This looks like a fun game. Does anyone know how this compares to something like Final Fantasy Tactics or Tactics Ogre?

IMO it's really great. It is the same style of FFT/etc. As far as comparison, it's not quite as in depth as something like FFT (changing jobs, leveling those jobs, skills, etc) in the sense that each character only has certain paths available to them, so it's more of a simplified concept in that way. But the gameplay is solid, I played on hard and the challenge was perfect in the end and the story is interesting enough. There are a few branching paths, in the end I played every time to get all the endings - I loved just about every minute of it. Cutscenes are skippable as well, so straight to gameplay for the most part. The music is also excellent and the voice acting didn't click with me at first, I ended up really liking it.

I can't recommend Triangle Strategy enough personally. I'm surprised it doesn't have a higher discount than this by now, though. I really hope for a sequel. This was one of the first games I got for my Switch when I bought it early last year. Suffice to say though if you enjoy strategy RPGs like FFT, you'll probably like this.

Just an FYI - you can buy the "European" version and play it on a US switch. It's a few bucks cheaper.

This game has more story than actual gameplay. I LOVE FFT and this game was just all kinds of boring.

I enjoyed FFT, but I gave up on TS. Way way too much dialogue.

This game is ok and I wish there were monster characters in the game rather than just human characters. So far i haven't found any turn based strategy game topping Vandal heart 1, which I played in 1996. It was so much fun but the game is very underrated. Hope they have a remaster.

I just finished it. This game is pretty much 80% dialogue and story, 20% battles. It's a shame because the battles are pretty good but so far and few in-between

Sounds like it's right up my alley. Thanks!

Vandal Hearts is one of my favorite games. I still play it every so often.

TS is an okay game.

The story and pacing are god awful. Voice acting is too sanitized, something should have been done to add uhhh beter texture? in the recording sessions.

If you like:
- being talked to directly by the characters with a hilarious amount of exposition
- being treated by the game as if you have a memory span of only 10 minutes
- moderate "your decisions matter" mechanics tied to a questionable persuasion mechanic
- a plot that is literally as basic as "precious resource desirable" and "racism bad"

OR

- are prepared to mash start and skip the storytelling when possible while using some kind of persuasion/decision guide to get the golden route because all of the other ones are trash.

then this is the tactics game for you!

I played this almost exclusively while flying and much of it was very good at helping me fall asleep.

The combat is okay -> if you want a combat focused tactics rpg you're better off with Tactics Ogre.

With Triangle Strategy, I came for a FF / Ogre Tactics and I got a dense visual novel with Tactics style battles sprinkled in. I guess this would be OK if I found the story engaging but I found it tedious and boring. I hear that the story gets much better later on but I had a tough time sticking with this one.

or you can buy it on Steam for $30. $36.50 if you want Various Daylife as well.

I'll wait until $39 or even $29. Maybe will happen this holiday.
