The Char Griller I have is the DUO charcoal/gas combo. I've had it two years (with a cover) and its starting to develop moderate to severe rust and pitting. Just wanted to throw that out there to ya.
I have had one of these for 8ish years. I haven't touched it for the past 4 years and just checked and it's rusted beyond repair.

always covered and under a patio. It was great when I used it, don't expect it to last more than 5 years

I am a really big fan of this. No, it is not a Green Egg or other ceramic kamado, but its at a much lower price point!
The biggest difference is, because this is steel, should you overshoot your target temperature its very challenging to correct. Just bring the temp up nice and slow and you'll be amazed with what you can fix on it.
I have had one of these for 9 years, 6 of which were in Fl (humidity). It has held up remarkably well with a cover on my porch.
Hope this helps!

I bought this about 8 months back. For this price it's a no brainer.

I have owned this grill for over eight years. I paid about the same for it on sale. I figured I would try this out and upgrade once I got the handle on a Kamado-type grill, but it's been so great, I will not replace it until it wears out. It is worth every penny. I smoke Thanksgiving turkeys every year, Boston butts, chickens, and grill any sort of meat. While it's not a Big Green Egg, the meat doesn't know the difference. It holds low temps well, is durable, and grills well.

I bought this at the same price in 2015 and I am still using this for grilling up to 4 people. It's still holding up pretty well and I use it throughout the year. I am on my 2nd grill cover and will need a 3rd next year if I decide to keep it. It's simple to use and maintain, it's a great charcoal grill to start out with before moving into a Kamado. If you have the budget to get a Kamado Joe then I suggest going for that when you see a good sale which normally does once or twice a year.

Looks like we may have gotten the same deal back in 2015, I got mine from Lowes for $219 after $50 off and with tax it was $234. I've added the Kamado Joe II in 2019 but the Akorn grill is still my go to grill for a small cook.

I also have had one for 8 years always covered - Wisconsin. I use it all year long, Holding up great. If you dont season the grill it will rust since all the oil has been removed.

it does run hot - its hard to keep at 225 it likes to run 260-275.
great for Poultry.

Weird. I did a prime rib over Easter and it kept right around 225 give or take a degree or two for 5 hours.

I bet, there are some really good tips on using this in the Amazon reviews.
