Should probably include the memory capacity in the title...

Cl speeds on ddr5 are different from ddr4

Absolutely wrong. DDR4 and 5 are very different. CL40 Is considered "good" with DDR5. The posted ram is perfect for 95% of the population....

Obviously there are a ton of different factors that go into choosing the best RAM for your build, including even which CPU manufacturer you choose. RAM latency provides a good baseline estimate before you start evaluating everything else. It seems you are mistaking what I'm talking about for CAS latency which is totally different.

I never said DDR4 and DDR5 are the same, in fact I specifically said I wasn't sure if that 10ns guideline was the sweet spot for DDR5. They didn't ask what's best for them or what's best for the average consumer, the poster I replied to simply asked how to tell the speed of the ram and the absolute latency is probably the best real world metric to do that.

They are slower.. but you won't find cl speeds less than 30 on ddr5. Just not available so a cl36 is decent for ddr5.

Nevertheless, at this stage , theres no real world advantage to having ddr4.

Of course, AM5, only accept ddr5. Long story short, this is a fine deal

Can some one tell me, if I already have this model "Vengeance DDR5-4800 PC5-38400 CL40", and I buy this one too, will they work together? I assume they will all run lower speed, as it was the case on old rams.. right?

I like how you're trying to actually be helpful and educate on the difference of CL and absolute latency, then SpongeBob and his goonies jump in and CL40 iS PerFEctlY GoOderS. 😂

Never mix memory kits, end of story.

And with that, DDR5 is finally reasonable.

Now if only video cards...

This deal is definitely cheaper, but if you don't care about spending an additional 40 dollars then you can get this kit with even better timings.

That looks like smoking low latency memory. In regards to games, will there be a notable difference? I'm probably going to be playing Microsoft flight simulator, and most likely some CPU dependent simulation games

Check with your mobo manufacturer specs if it can make use of the higher mhz frequency. Even then the specs some mobo makers claim don't seem to live up those in reality. An msi board I was working on the other week claims support up to ddr5 7200. Reality though is it isn't fully stable until the frequency is lowered to 6600mhz or so. From what I gather, this is a pretty common issue, unless you want to shell out big $$ for a high tier mobo, just to gain 1-3% fps (if even), 5600-6000mhz, even at 40cl, is still good stuff and seems to be more well tolerated on most boards that support ddr5. Of course with pricing atm, cl36-32 on 6000mhz is very close, so no issues there. Performance wise, they are all fairly close. Unless you are 4K gamin and the fps squeeze is real, 1080p and even most 1440p titles, the fps diff's aren't going to be noticeable to most.
