Worth as a backup? My current refrigerator is pretty old. About 30 years. And I don't know when it will go out. This might be a good backup when it does.

Great luxury purchase for people who can use it as a secondary fridge. Not that it matters now since Citi removed the extended warranty, but when I tried to use it on a fridge it sucked. Citi needed to see my estimate and then I was expected to wait a week to get it approved. How are people with only one fridge expected to handle a bad fridge? This is why every Samsung or LG fridge thread is full of extremely angry people. Even if you got insurance to replace spoiled food, the hassle is unspeakable...

Here's a tip for GE fridges. They actually have a serial diagnostic port GE technicians can hook up a diagnostic computer into. Don't waste your time on anyone but GE if you have a GE fridge. I called Sears the first time and the tech played the numbers, which I fully understand. But had I listened to him I would have been out $500 in labor for them to replace the wrong part.

A little confused. What's the width, 35 7/8" or 33.5"? I saw 2 data in product detail section
33.5 from what I am seeing

It's a difficult situation. And it's true about Samsung and LG refrigerators. My Samsung refrigerator continues to chew up ice makers and has a drain design issue that causes ice to form under the deli compartment.
But LGs are worse, two out of two family members who have LG have spent weeks on huge repairs requiring compressor and dryer replacements. It's been an awful experience for them dealing with appointment after appointment, unavailable parts, having to buy bags of ice to get by. And the pain in the ass caused by living out of an igloo ice box for weeks at a time. Most of us can't even fully comprehend how important a functioning refrigerator is in our daily lives until you are placed in this situation.
And they consider themselves lucky, because they bought the extended warranties.

LG - Compressors stink. Learn from my mistake. I'll never buy LG or Samsung again.
Damn, we need a fridge and this was the perfect price point! 😞

My bet's on the LG going out first.

I would never buy any LG or Samsung refrigerator or washer/dryer. I have seen several of my neighbors with LG washers leaked. I know someone has an LG refrigerator (the one in this link). It's working fine so far. However, I personally wouldn't buy any.

For this price, I think you can buy the $90 + 3yrs under 1000 warranty instead of the $119 it suggest when add to cart: https://www.costco.com/allstate-3-years-(for-major-appliances-under-$1000).product.100280696.html
Does this start after the manufacture warranty? From my experience the nightmares start at around year 4-5.

Can anyone verify from actually owning this unit (any color) that the width is 33.5" from the back and the 36" is only with the doors open?

I have the stainless steel model I got for $1400 in October 2021. No real problems with it as of yet minus the flap of the ice maker getting stuck open once allowing ice to melt and refreeze in the opening blocking ice from coming out, was an easy fix of removing the ice and it hasn't happened again.

The couple of things I don't like about it are UI related.

The first being that there is a single button to cycle between water, cubed ice, and crushed ice. It's a minor annoyance to cycle to ice, then back to water because you always need an extra push to get past the option you don't need. Wish each selection had it's own button.

The second is I wish the indicator to replace the water filter was on the outside of the fridge near the dispenser so it's easy to notice. You have to remember to check the indicator on the inside of the fridge every so often.

In for one to replace a Samsung that had periodic freeze up issues. A lot of the bad reviews are most likely due to labor issues during COVID. Note this one is the highest rated fridge on Consumer Reports. Our Samsung tech recommended Kitchen Aid that now rates the worst on CR. Unfortunately reliability is not a feature you can pay for! For those that care it has WiFi that mimics the panel adjustment.
