"140W" is literally in the posting mate.

I own the G16 with better memory version. I paid $1,169.99 for it during a price drop on Amazon. December 6 2022 purchase date.

Dell G16 7620 Gaming Laptop - 16-inch QHD 165Hz Display, Intel Core i9-12900H Processor, 32GB DDR5 RAM, 1TB SSD, WiFi 6, NVIDIA GeForce RTX3070Ti Grap

I would pass at this price as 32 GB of DDR5 is way better than a 240Hz 15" display for the price. This late into the 4000 series released, these will start dropping like rocks soon price wise.

Nope. Laptop GPUs unfortunately share branding with their big brothers on the desktop, but even a midrange GPU would burn way too much power to be usable in a laptop. It's more the heat dissipation than the power draw. Remember that basically all graphics cards these days are thicker than a normal laptop.

There's not nearly as many laptop GPU reviews, but here's one for the RTX 3070 Ti (laptop edition: Review [techspot.com]

I had to return it. The thermals were awful the fan was constantly on and only single NVME slot

Amazon even offered 30% to keep it but I didn't want to keep a brick

What do you expect to get as competition to this in the same price range with better thermals? I need a good laugh.

What would be the sweet spot for someone looking to buy their kid their first gaming laptop? With the 40xx versions released, I guess the 3070Ti or better equipped gaming laptop will hit the low 1000 range? Saw an Alienware AMD 6800h with 3070Ti the other day for 12xx on here but held back for a i7 version.

I like the ability to connect a monitor with USB-C. But these always require a big power brick right? The Alienware one my nephew has uses the same 240w brick that my CAD workstation Dell laptop uses.

Can the normal 10% off coupons be used on this deal, combined with the Amex Offer?

Don't the latest mobile AMD CPUs have better performance, thermals, and less battery consumption?

Yes, I purchased this for 1399 in Feb, and then returned it, I don't consider this as a good price.

I'd look for HP Omen or Lenovo Legion Pros. Dells run really, I mean really hot, which usually affect its average lifespan.

You need a chassis that has better thermals and doesn't throttle the laptop as much as Dells typically do.

My friends Alienware died after 2 years of daily casual gaming, and I believe that prolonged overheating was the main reason the laptop died.

This would be better in the winter if it's anything like my other sell laptops (overheating throttling junk).

Physics don't know about seasons. Any laptop with similar parts produces the same amount of heat if they're operating at the same levels. Or do you think somehow the exact same 3070 Ti (and i9-12900H) in another laptop doesn't generate the same heat? That heat has to go somewhere...better to be expelled out the laptop, but either way, any similar laptop would be a good room-warmer in any season.

I agree. I did quite a bit of research before buying a laptop last year. Dell/Alienware have a reputation for running very hot with Intel chips, although their Ryzen versions fare better, it seems.

Lenovo Legions and HP Omen 17 seemed to be praised highly for their cooling, although Legions were widely considered to have better build quality. Still, you can't beat the HP Omen 17 deal at Microcenter right now. $1099 for 12700H/3070ti is nice.

Of course, his comment was in jest, but his point doesn't make sense since any laptop of this caliber generates large amounts of heat and was unfair to anyone thinking about buying this G15.
