I own the G16 with better memory version. I paid $1,169.99 for it during a price drop on Amazon. December 6 2022 purchase date.
Dell G16 7620 Gaming Laptop - 16-inch QHD 165Hz Display, Intel Core i9-12900H Processor, 32GB DDR5 RAM, 1TB SSD, WiFi 6, NVIDIA GeForce RTX3070Ti Grap
I would pass at this price as 32 GB of DDR5 is way better than a 240Hz 15" display for the price. This late into the 4000 series released, these will start dropping like rocks soon price wise.

There's not nearly as many laptop GPU reviews, but here's one for the RTX 3070 Ti (laptop edition: Review [techspot.com]

Amazon even offered 30% to keep it but I didn't want to keep a brick

I like the ability to connect a monitor with USB-C. But these always require a big power brick right? The Alienware one my nephew has uses the same 240w brick that my CAD workstation Dell laptop uses.

You need a chassis that has better thermals and doesn't throttle the laptop as much as Dells typically do.
My friends Alienware died after 2 years of daily casual gaming, and I believe that prolonged overheating was the main reason the laptop died.

Lenovo Legions and HP Omen 17 seemed to be praised highly for their cooling, although Legions were widely considered to have better build quality. Still, you can't beat the HP Omen 17 deal at Microcenter right now. $1099 for 12700H/3070ti is nice.
