This cooler has worse performance and noise levels. Don't recommend it on 7900.

Depends on the form factor, features you need and your budget.

That's unfortunate. The earlier wraith coolers had a lot of whine to them. Got tired of it and swapped it out for a cooler master 212. Couldn't be happier. That was 3 years ago, sounds like they haven't fixed it.

I wouldn't either. If you're buying this I highly recommend grabbing a Peerless Assassin 120 (PA120) for $35 if building in a mid-tower or bigger case.

This only consume 65W power yet very powerful.
I got 7900x but want to switch to this and save on my E bills!

If you want to get an entry levels below might be a fit.
But you will have a long life with AM5 as they will be last for at least next 2 ~ 4 years, so you might want to get a higher end ones with $200 ~.

Love Ryzen Zen series CPUs and related!

Jesus, uneducated fanboys are the worst. The 7900x is 95% the exact same as the 7900, but the 7900 has its power limit restricted by AMD. They are the same chip, just with artificial limitations.

You can essentially turn the 7900x into a 7900 by just limiting your power in BIOS.

You can save a ton of power while keeping performance high with both AMD and Intel chips by limiting the power in BIOS, you dont need to buy one that comes from the factory with that already forced.

Thanks for this recommendation! I wouldn't have found it otherwise, but the Tom's Hardware review is glowing, the price is amazing, and it appears to fight hard against Noctua's flagships. I sprung for the non-SE because it puts dampers/cushions on the edges of the twin fans, for slight noise mitigation when spinning fast.

Glad it helped. Yeah these are amazing especially when you consider the price. You mentioned Noctua's options but the PA120 (not the SE, that's cheaper & smaller, better for say an i5 than i7) is right up there with the $65+ Deepcool AK620, and still beats it in many tests.
Best tower coolers currently on the market, for more cooling you would need a quality AIO like an ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 360 for $140.

Not sure why you have the thumbs down, I was thinking the same thing. There are so many ways via the BIOS to get the X chips down to very low power draws.

Probably because he didn't read the comment he responded to. It was talking about the 7800 x3d. Not saying the OG comment was a perfect comment, just that he made an irrelevant angry response lol

I thought AMD's moving towards a more intel like process where new chip architecture would require new motherboards?

No, there are worse things… like people who think they're smart but not smart enough to word things without being a complete prick about it,
