I can't speak for the GOG version but definitely one of the greatest games there is.

Also, "Note: Steam account required to play"... Seems doubtful that you need a Steam account for GOG.

Ps3 has the trilogy remastered in hd, 360 has some of the remastered games but I think one or two were cut from that version (don't remember which) but it should be on Xbox bc. Ps2 had a trilogy re release of all the games in a 3 box collection which is what I own, not sure how rare or collectible that one is but I'd imagine it's easier to find than the original ps1 version.
Edit: Forgot to mention, vita has the hd collection, although it's probably similar to xbox from what I recall.

Off the top of my head I think no other current gen console has this game available. I think your best bet would be to buy this version, find a PS1 or PS2 and buy a copy for those systems, or get an emulator and play it on there

Honestly you can run it under a ps1 emulator and upscale it to hell. Get emulator for the ps1 called duckstation. You can change the resolution to 1080p, run Vulcan api, and rendering resolution to 1080p. It makes ps1 emulated games look clean and amazing looking. But it's hard to say no to $5 game, any one see if upping the resolution makes the game look good on the pc game version?

Those PS3/360 versions are the best versions of MGS2 and 3, but I'd suggest MGS: The Twin Snakes on GameCube for the best console version and it also runs perfectly on Steam Deck.

This will all be moot when the new HD remasters and remakes come out, but as far as I know those are very much up in the air.

The best version of this game imo is a little known GameCube port not done by kojima. It adds fpv and just polished the entire game. To me it's the most modern playable version of a masterpiece. They did a really good job of adding to and preserving a classic.

Yep, good call on Twin Snakes. The collection on the Vita is also great, but Twin Snakes is the superior version of MGS1.

Dolphin emulator will play the GC version nicely. The "full" experience would be on a PS1 with a memory card and a dual shock controller (spoilers, can't say why) but the GC version looks much nicer if the PS1 pixel edition doesn't do it for you.
