Other than a few blips of price jumps since about August 2021, Triple Camel has shown this to be the normal price.

Anyway 8 inch is too small for even a decent skillet cookie.

"Efficientresearcher" indeed. You just Google stuff, don't you?

"Two other models without enamel coating were tested, but were found with higher than normal metal levels.
The HK$1,788 Lodge iron pot was found with chromium, iron, manganese and vanadium levels exceeding Council of Europe standards by 0.7 times to 54 times."
That said I do not trust chinese media. We are in financial war with them.

I have almost every Lodge pan. They're great value and it's a U.S. company. If it was a big issue, U.S. media, Consumer Reports, or testing labs in the U.S. would likely pickup the story and do their own testing.
My needs and situation changed so I don't use any of them now. Cleaning and weight bothered me now that I'm old.
Chinese "news" media is not far off from Russian "news" media, since 1997 anyway. It's funny how so many (even our leaders) talk negative on China but keep supporting China with their purchases and policies.

Nowhere in this article does it assert that Lodge cast-iron products contain arsenic. In addition, the testing process used an undeclared concentration of acid to extract these trace metals which may be completely unrealistic for the use of cookware like this. Given enough time, even a mild acid like Pepsi Cola would likely completely oxidize and dissolve anything made of cast-iron.
Although they did find Lodge's levels of chromium, iron, manganese, and vanadium exceeding Council of Europe standards, those are all alloys in any cast-iron or stainless steel pan. It's what they are made of.
If you want to look for poisons in your cookware, I suggest you look up "Teflon Flu". Now that's scary, especially if you are bird owner.

"Centre for Food Safety says the laboratory tests do not necessarily reflect the results from cooking in normal circumstances"
So basically they took the cookware, used it abnormally (abused it most likely), and allegedly got these results. Also, like others have noted, this pan is straight cast iron NOT enameled cast iron. The biggest fear for someone with this pan would be if they have a health condition that predisposes them to iron overloading.
