I've acid etched two floors and gotten good results before epoxy coating, both having lasted over 5 years with no issues, one was 10. That said, next time, I'm just renting a grinder from HD for $160. Its faster, less hassle and you end up with better results.

It should but it will also etch the concrete which is typically done in preparation for a concrete coating (epoxy, stain, etc). Great price, I got 2.

Purchased 2 as well. Bought a Rust-Oleum EpoxyShield Garage Floor Coating kit on clearance last year at Home Depot. Hope to finally get around to applying this summer.
My current garage, has a layer of cheap flat paint on the floor (previous owner had it sprayed on to look better for sale I believe). Anyone know if this is strong enough to get rid of that too?

Don't expect miracles from this though. You need a deeper cleaner and degreaser if these have been there a while and run deep.

Unlikely. Unfortunately you need to remove old paint with wire brush drill attachment or concrete grinder.

Um unsure if you are joking or not but I'm no - why would you risk putting whatever that other 5% in your pool. I think the guys point was that this is just muriatic acid and not that special of a price.

Picked one last week for $7 on wally clearance. They had epoxy paint for $40 on clearance. But it wasnt kit, just paint of 1g. I wasnt sure what I need or what comes on kit vs just paint so I didnt buy that time.

Those who did, is it better on kit?

You are probably right, but even if this is just muriatic acid, it is still a good deal. Low fuming muriatic acid is showing for $11 at my HD - and for that you still need to neutralize it which that is can be done cheaply, but still this deal doesnt require supposedly.

EDIT: you do not need to neutralize the standard muriatic acid products - water will do just fine. Neutralizing can be done with baking soda if needed.
