seems you've made the case that most people prefer Costco, else they wouldn't be so crowded compared to Sams Wink
… basically Sams is like a lame Walmart (no one actually "likes" it) whereas Costco is like Targét (people feel better shopping there)
I guess. I feel like a lot of people seem to view Costco as some exclusive, invitation only club. Personally I think Costco and Sam's club is similar enough where it doesn't really matter which you're a member of. For me, the better technology (scan and go, and online prices/availability) and fewer people is why I prefer sam's.

Sam's club is great and so is Costco. No need to argue. What nobody can dispute is the Sam's club memberships are far cheaper with deals.

One other nice thing about Sam's Club is their online prices are often the same or similar as their warehouse prices, and the Plus membership gives free shipping. Costco is almost always more expensive online, even with Executive membership, seems intended to drive you into the warehouse, which just reinforces the crowding at Costco.

Well since this thread is a Costco vs sam's thread already, here is my take:

How Sam's Club is better:

- Much less crowded
- Because it's less crowded, when things go on clearance, you have a higher chance of getting it
- I find Sam's to be a bit cheaper for the things I buy. Especially meat/dairy
- Scan and Go is superior to lines at Costco
- The price disparity with Costco is increasing pretty quickly *
- Shopping online let's you pick up in store same or next day. For any item in stock.

How Costco is better:

- Superior customer service if you need to talk to someone
- Higher quality items (maybe) in the freezer sections
- Usually cleaner

*My theory is that Costco is really struggling with inflation because they pay their employees much better (and better benefits). I've seen many things skyrocket in price at Costco while Sam's is raising prices, it's not as bad. Sam's is able to deal a bit better with inflation because they don't pay their employees as well and have less overhead.

I just got a sam's club membership with the recent $10 deal. The way I see it right now is even if sam's is a bit more expensive on stuff, the lower crowds compared to Costco and the existence of scan and go at sam's club makes it more worth while just in time savings. Every time I go to Costco I'm spending 10-15 minutes waiting to check out with 1000 other people, and dodging people with their 6 kids every 5 feet. it feels like everyone and their relatives has a Costco membership.
I think it depends on the area but I have both and I feel this way about Sams Club. If they didnt have the phone or self check out, I would probably not go to Sams Club as it is always way more crowded and workers are slow. Even if Costco is crowded, it usually goes by way faster.

I really would prefer the pro series flat top grill with a lid. But I am not sure it's worth $220 more. Does that ever go on sale?

I got both Sams and Costco and lately I been using Sams alot more, Costco has gotten too expensive, especially their packaged salads, it's like twice as expensive as Sams because they play that "organic" bs game to trick people.

agree, i have both as well and my preferred is sams club because they have actual name brand clothing and food. not kirkland crap which looks like junk the top label manufacturer rejected!

costco clothing quality has gone downhill the past few years as has the food, produce seems much better at sams club also . costco is just much more cleaner and better organized but quality wise sams club is leaps and bounds ahead! also sams near me has fresh sushi bar!

The only reason I kept Costco is the credit card as I get alot of cash back, but I might have to find a new alternative though.

I have both sam's and Costco as well and couldn't disagree more with this. Grocery prices sam's is cheaper and it's not close. Unless you only eat organic, sam's everyday. Don't feel like paying $6/lb for chicken breast.
Please provide screenshot of non-organic chicken breast at Costco for $6/lb

I too belong to both Sam's and Costco and find Costco cheaper but Sam's has more available items and their online selection can not be beat

My Costco is in a high cost of living location and I still pay about half of that for chicken breast. Looking at my last purchase from this past week, I paid $3.29 a pound for a roughly 6.5 lb pack.

And a double check of the nearest Sam's - $3.48 a pound for the same. More expensive at Sams, and not cryovac'd either so it'll spoil faster.
If you're paying over $3 a pound for chicken, you are getting ripped off. Gordon Food Service has boneless skinless chicken breasts in 10 pound packages for $1.70 a pound. Goes down to $1.50 per pound if you buy the 40 pound case. I got it on sale a few weeks ago for like $1.25 per pound.

I have sams and costco and completely agree. I love the mini tacos at Sams since they discontinued them at Costco.
And you guarantee these are good? 🤔

I have both, Costco and Sam's Club. Each club has better pricing than the other on certain items. I shop both. It's always good to have more than one option.
