5,000 IUs is NOT too much to take. Your references are from the same people who are bought and paid for by big pharma, big food, and the seed oil manufacturers. 10,000 IUs of daily D3 drastically lowers your risk of getting COVID-19 and its severity.

Either take a D3 supplement or get your bare butt out in the sun. The health benefits are proven.

Clinically significant hypervitaminosis D from supplements is extremely rare. You won't get hypercalcemic from 5k IU daily, and probably need a daily dose closer to 10x that amount to get toxic. Here is a case report of toxicity noted in people who took a supplement with 600k IU - https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/21123442/

If you are truly concerned, you can extend dosing intervals -- eg 1 pill every 2 days (=2.5k/day) or 1 pill a week (714 IU/day).

Yikes, 5,000 IU of Vitamin D is WAY too much! General recommendations are 600 IU per day, and not to exceed 1,000 IU to 2,000 IU.

From the Mayo Clinic:

Without researching it, you would be pretty safe assuming they are made with one of the seed oils. Besides, can anyone trust olive oil to be real olive oil anymore?

Generally true except some people are deficient or insufficient and need a lot more than the standard guidelines. Normal Vitamin D serum (blood) levels in healthy adults range from 30-100ng/mL but about 40% of Americans are under that level which will require a lot more sunlight and supplementation. If you're between 21-29ng/mL you're considered insufficient. If you are under 20ng/mL, its considered deficient. Your doctor will most likely prescribe 50-60K Vitamin D2 pills once a week to get levels up to normal. This dosage will go on for weeks if not months. A high dose D2 injection is also another option. After your prescription dose is through, most doctors will recommend staying on smaller daily dose such as 1000-5000IU to maintain healthy levels Causes of Vit. D insufficiency/deficiency is mostly due to lack of sunshine, diet, obesity, malabsorption problems issues associated with gut problems, etc. which a lot of people suffer from (one combination or another).

Not having enough Vitamin D in your system leads to a ton of various health issues and has been shown to cause chronic problems and disease ie. cancer. So if you're unsure and not feeling well, go to your doctor and get tested first.

I was recently found to be deficient (lab results below)

Vitamin D, 25-Hydroxy 9.3 Low ng/mL 30.0-100.0 04-08-2023 02:55 Final Results 01

and I've been suffering from a lot of random symptoms that have been making my life a living hell. Unexplained fatigue, sore muscles, bone pain, etc. anxiety, etc. Been on 50K for 3 weeks and things have gotten better but still not quite there yet. Doc is telling me to go 9 weeks with another blood test in a week to check on levels. I work in an office and go outside regularly for walks and weekend activities. I live in a temperate zone in the US and I THOUGHT I was getting enough sunshine but apparently not. Good luck to anyone out there who is suffering from this ailment.
