Overpriced - Yes. I bought my Embody on sale directly from Herman Miller for 1k with all the extras. This was in 2016, I get inflation but the new price is beyond inflation. The same chair I purchased in 2016 for $1050 is now $2020.

Over-hyped - I still don't think so. Due to life happening, at a young age I've always had lower back pain. Sitting down in an office chair never helped either. I researched Embody and decided to pull the trigger on it seven years ago. After adjusting I've never felt back pain sitting down, at least not in this chair. I used to work at an office and sat in multiple chairs depending which office/conference room I was visiting and every chair made my back eventually hurt. A lot of these chairs were very expensive as well. Plenty of online reviews comparing chairs, mostly all reviewers agree Embody chair is great.

I work from home now, and the only thing I would like to have on my Embody is a headrest. Luckily "Atlas Headrests" have made a headrest for it. I'm just waiting for mine to eventually ship.

Would I buy an Embody again? Yes. Would I wait for a bigger sale before buying one? Maybe

Herman Miller isn't the only bad guy here when it comes to over inflating cost, Steel Case has done the very same thing. The Haworth Fern does seem like an interesting option.

Bought a couple embody gaming chairs last year. They're super comfortable and well built. Probably not worth it for most people to spend $1500 on a chair, but I don't regret it. If you're looking for "bang for your buck" it is definitely not the chair for you. If you want the most comfortable office chair you can get, you should definitely consider an embody G and this is a good price.

I tried few HM chairs in my office. Here is my PERSONAL opinion
Mirra - sucks so much. Had it for about a year and hated it every day.
Aeron - a bit better, but I'd still prefer some noname chair from staples.
Embody - I asked for it to replace my Mirra when I tried it in a store. It is not bad. Better than Aeron and much better than Mirra for me. But I have to say that I only got it because my employer paid for it. I wouldn't buy it with my own money.
TLDR: Try them before you drop so much money, or at least make sure you can return them.

Aeron is a classic but preferred the Steelcase Leep v2 I ended up buying for the home office. I WFH full time and have been using it about 1 year not and love it. Only thing I did was bought a Purple butt cushion, don't think it needed it but my wife was using one and I loved the way it felt.

The Vantum looks like a "cheap" chair to get more people into the brand, hopefully get the company out of pity city.

Cancelled bonuses for staff this year and told them to stop crying and self-pitying and start thinking about the $26 million they can earn for the company. You couldn't make this stuff up even if you tried.

Oh, and she raked in about $3M in bonus the last fiscal year.
wtf thats horrible! thanks for letting us know!

My office manager upgraded all employees chairs to Aeron in 2018. Mine is still so nice to sit on. Made that daily office grind a bit more bearable. I don't have a HM at home, but if I PC game 3-4 hours a day (which I used to do before marriage and kids), I'd probably save up for the Embody.

Have the Embody Gaming and really like it - that said I def didn't pay anywhere near the MSRP. If you're around LA the Design Within Reach outlet location in Oxnard has all of Herman Miller stuff for about half off but without warranties/final sale. I only paid $800 for mine after tax back in 2020 and don't regret it.

There's nothing wrong with buying a fancy chair that's super ergonomic. I have two bad discs in my lower back and needed a chair with excellent back support. I wouldn't recommend the chair at MSRP and don't know if I'd pay even this sale's amount for it but don't bash someone for wanting to save while still spending money.

I definitely am in the market for one of these (remodeling my home office) but it'll be a cold day in heck before I help that CEO get another cent of bonus money.

I have the embody. It's really comfortable for your back if you sit properly. Too bad there's no headrest though. If you think this is expensive then think of it as a 10 year investment and divide the cost as xx cents per day

overpriced/ over-hyped, had an Aeron and was not impressed at all the fabric was itchy, lumbar support mediocre, the marketing hype machine is akin to Dyson or Apple products but the lemmings will follow
Dyson actually pretty good imo...while apple...hmm

Have the embody gaming chair. Waited until the last sale. Yes, it is expensive. But after sitting for long periods without any more back pain, is worth it. I probably could have found a cheaper chair, but i really like the way it looks and feels. To me, it was worth it.
