oh chat with airbnb now, i had something booked for summer a while back and put the "deposit" on CC at the time, then I accumulated airBnb gift cards on account that should more than cover the rest, but instead, when the time comes to pay for the rest, it still took it from my CC instead of the balance of gift cards on my account. It didn't used to be that way.

Wow thanks for this comment. Same situation, have something booked with a deposit and have an outstanding balance I wanted to use gift cards on. Sucks that it can't be done.

Edit: It is possible to use gift cards for the remaining balance.

Same thing happened to me in December. I have an upcoming trip booked so I will be able to make use of the gift card credits but not happy that you have to manually select gift cards as payment rather than those being applied first before charging a credit card.

Not true. Once you made a deposit, you can still use gift cards to apply to the remaining balance. Just go with your reservation and when you pay the remaining balance, the gift card should automatically apply to your reservation balance.
