Not gonna lie. This thing looks pretty dumb. Hey, let's take 2 useful products and combine them into 1 less useful one... Maybe I just don't get it though.

Anyone have this? The reviews are hit or miss, but seems like a lot of people are complaining about how the canopy isn't included, but its clear that a canopy is not included so expect to pay another $70+ or more for a 10x10.

Anyone have this? The reviews are hit or miss, but seems like a lot of people are complaining about how the canopy isn't included, but its clear that a canopy is not included so expect to pay another $70+ or more for a 10x10.

This model is not a great one.
However, there are other ConnecTent models that are way more useful:

It doesn't come "with legs" and it leaks according to reviews. It's not really a tent. You have to buy structure separately. Wtf?

I do not own this but I can imagine this being nice for the beach especially if the wind is able to escape out the mesh. Sometimes we stay far from the beach because hotel prices within walking distance is insane - so this can provide privacy if you need to change clothes or whatever thus making it easier to spend more time there. Probably can even setup a little toilet and BOOM.

I usually just poo in the water when I'm at the beach and need to go. No need for privacy.

Nobody has encountered my toasty "sea cucumber" just yet!

I own a different version of the same concept. It's great if you love the space and shade of a canopy but want protection from bugs or the option of privacy. It is very easy to set up and take down solo and is fairly compact for how large it is. On the other hand, it can't handle wind nearly as well as a dome tent, and the pricing isn't competitive unless you already own a canopy.

My takeaway is if you already own a compatible canopy, like the idea of a huge tent, and don't want to use it in a windy environment, you could do worse. I'd still recommend buying some lashing straps (they can be cheap) and decent stakes to help support it in the event of wind.

KEYWORD IS CANOPY - it still has the mesh up top. If you want a cheap canopy just use a tarp.
