670p is a great drive but I doubt you're saturating even PCIe 3.0

$40 per 1TB is normal price thesedays.
4TB ssd are coming down to under $200 now.
it would be a sweet spot to have 4tb ssd below $150

Is it better than the Crucial P3 Plus? It's built on the flash from the Intel 670p but has 144-Layer Solidigm QLC and the SMI SM2269XT controller. Should that make it better than the 670p? Ive been hearing that the NVMe protocols don't even need DRAM. For which use cases are they referring to?

Don't quote me on it. But I believe you don't need DRAM if your system supports HMB. You do need DRAM if you're planning to use the drive externally.
