Not really a deal, some dealers are selling these for $899 since Specialized ruined it from the 2021 model year with cheap components, a downgraded fork, 2.3" tires, a 1x9 drivetrain from a 1x11 which is now microshift and used to be Shimano, all around Specialized seriously cheaped out on the 2022/23 models. Shop around at Specialized dealers and you should be able to find it for $899 which is where it belongs for the crummy components you're getting.

One dealer selling some sizes for $879 or $999 shipped using the ground shipping option. This is where this bike should be priced, the only allure to it really is the fact that it comes with a factory dropper post. I would not pay $1099 for this since based on the components I think that should actually be the regular MSRP.

I think the Cannondale Trail SE 3 a is better deal for a trail type hardtail. Much better components, 1x11 gearing, a pretty nice Rockshox Judy Silver TK fork (Air sprung, adjustable compression, rebound and obviously damping with Solo Air), Shimano Deore instead of Microshift, probably slightly less trail oriented than the Fuse but that would be neglible to 99% of the riders just like the difference between the Tektro M275 vs the Shimano MT200 hydraulic brakes. Also comes standard with thru axles front and rear, a good dropper seat post, tapered head tube and is "next gen" as OP states plus Cannondale is a good company to work with for warranty issues and it has free delivery to your local cannondale dealer. I would take the Cannondale any day for $1060 but I'm also partial to 29" wheels over 27.5" wheels anyway.

Lastly, OP is incorrect about percentage off, it's about 27% off, not 37%. Savings on the Cannondale is 30%.

Literally just bought this for my son today. Local bike shop for the 579 with no shipping fee (unlike specialized website that wanted to charge 50 to ship to a local store). Seemed like a good bike foe a 13 year old.

The Specialized Status is probably one of the better deals in all of mountain biking for a full suspension bike if it fits your riding type. A slack mullet with a Fox 36 fork, Float X rear shock, Code R brakes, and a Sram NX drivetrain on sale for $2250.

Yes, most do. And it's best to buy it there (or have them order it) for their service and because they make a little higher margin that way and will more likely still be in business later when you may need them.

If it is something advertised on a manufacturer's own website, nearly always yes. Dealers do have the right to hold to their own prices though, so call your local dealer if you're interested.

Mine would not but another LBS did and with their price I was able to avoid the shipping charge that Specialized wanted to charge. I wanted to buy hyper local but they were 150 more than another bike shop in the metro area. So be sure to calk around!

Couldn't agree more. Components seem to be low end considering the price of this bike.
