If that's the case, then yes.

oh I didn't know if that's considered a long time or not. Do you generally put this in ahead of time of it getting old? I wonder how often I would need to add this stuff

nvmd, found on the product description

Doesn't most PHEV try to use the gas to keep it from going bad?

The original volt periodically used gas.

3-6 months is what most sites seem to say for how long gas lasts.

I try to keep gas in the can, not the mower or snowblower, and add stabilizer. After a couple months I put the gas in the car tank (non EV, so it gets used) and replace with newer gas.

The length of time fuel will remain useable in your gas tank is dependent on the fuel type. Regular gasoline has a shelf life of three to six months, while diesel can last up to a year before it begins to degrade. On the other hand, organic-based Ethanol can lose its combustibility in just one to three months due to oxidation and evaporation.

When preparing to store a car 8 months, a mechanic friend of mine suggested skipping all the fuel additives and just filling the tank with ethanol free fuel.

With it's higher octane (that only degrades a little over time) and complete lack of ethanol sludge, the car always starts at the first turn of the key and runs great.

I don't think ethanol free is higher octane.

The higher ethonal fuels I see are higher octane.

Regular gas is 87 octane, ethanol free is 90. At least it is here.

Yes I know what the HV button does but why do I want to use gas when it's way cheaper to use electricity? I use HV when going long range but not for day to day driving.

Because using gas a little once in a while helps preventing the gas from going bad?
