A cautionary tale for U. One day, long ago.... some random dude bought a "deal" 1TB MX500 SATA for $130 because.....wow what a deal ! even if he didn't really need it at the time at some point he will need it. Yesterday was that day and installed it went. Then today, same random dude sees today's deals.... like this deal or the Solidigm P44 deal $130 for 2TB of fast NVME........ Don't be that random dude. But then again same random dude at one time bought DDR ram for $65 for 16mb then 6 months later the same 16mb went for $180. Your fortune cookie says, don't buy things on a "deal" buy it when you need it and not one second before. Any resemblance between me and that random dude are purely coincidental, I swear.
If you can wait, you really don't need it do you?

Good price. Anyone knows of a utility to see which controller is used with these drives? I see there is a review that says new items are shipped with different controller. Any free utility we can install that shows actual controller used ?

Use this site, try likely controllers:
http://vlo.name:3000/ssdtool/

Anti-virus complains, but that bollocks. VLO is a known developer in the SSD world.

Bought this when it was $200 a few weeks ago and I'm very happy with the performance. Great for a game drive if all you need is gen 3 PCIE.

If it was 16MB it probably wasn't DDR.

Posts on Reddit [reddit.com] this year indicate its a RTS5762 with SK Hynix 128L flash. That's also what I got when I bought a 1TB one earlier this year.
I believe @NewMaxx is a member here on SD too.

It's been a while (according to random dude, not me), but random dude is pretty sure it was ddr. DDR was already around when mainstream motherboards had 24 or 32mb max memory limit. But who knows, maybe my memory has gone bad....the ram, I meant the ram. Smilie

wasn't it SDRAM back then? I'm pretty sure I had these style of ram before.

Any of you remember AGP graphics instead of PCI or PCIE?

Well I looked it up, the price spike that happened was around 2013-14 because some dram factory in china burned down. DDR has been around since 1998 so doing the math..... 2013 should be solid in the double data rate territory. Should be like ddr3 when the price spike happened so yeah, generation wise it's also 3 generations in ddr. So, dunno, I'm still pretty sure it was ddr ram that I dealt with, um, I mean the random guy dealt with. Smilie
