Not slick. Blacklocks are not necessarily better than "lower tier" Lodge pans. Funny handles etc. $100 for cast iron is expensive

While I agree, I'd never pay 100 bucks for a cast iron pan, they do have their merits.
The blacklock line is a good deal lighter, and thinner. The smoother transitions from base to wall can be nice for certain dishes as well. Plus the factory finish and seasoning is done better than the lodge logic lines, which for some people might be nice.

Lighter and thinner means less heat retention, worse heat conduction, and higher likelihood of warping or cracking when heated/cooled too quickly (like from using high power induction).

I would call it slick when the normal price is $150 https://www.lodgecastiron.com/sho...dutch-oven

This is the first time I've seen Blacklock sold anywhere outside of Lodge's website.

I would even argue that any cast Iron above and beyond the basic Lodge pieces (with the exception of enameled, it can pay to go with premium brand) is going to be a "waste of money", as you don't get any improved functionality. Some people (myself included) simply enjoy collecting and using different pieces of cast iron, and this does appear to be a good deal for the Blacklock pieces.
