They designed it with two DIMM slots so I think it's more a question of marketing than design.

If anyone is spending over $1000 after taxes than the computer better be semi usable for its intended purpose. 8GB of ram is just a complete joke for anyone wanting to game outside of the box. Might as well just not include any ram and let a person buy his own from scratch. I guess if your playing older games on 1080 that's fine.
