For those unfamiliar with Home Depot "Hack". The hack involves only getting the chainsaw kit. You will use the value of the free battery to reduce the main kit price.
How to do the Hack:
Option 1: Order the battery to one store and order the Chainsaw kit to a store near you. Pick up the chainsaw kit then go online and cancel the pick up on the Battery at the other store. This will result in only getting charged the prorated value of the chainsaw kit which will be the "Hack" Price.
Option 2: Order for home Delivery then just return the battery to a local store. Can also ship it back but that's more of a hassle.
Happy hunting.

No real reason to long term store with oil in the saw and if it's short term just keep the fill cap up.
I went all-in on the dewalt line and don't have a single complaint against any of them. Yes I have other brands for corded tools here and there but you won't be displeased with their line.

Most chainsaws are gravity drain for the bar oil, so if left "upright" for storage, they'll still leak oil out. Just store on its side. My Husqvarnas are like that.
But it makes it much more complicated, more prone to breakage and more expensive. I had an electric chainsaw once where you pressed on the fill port much like you'd press on a carb primer bulb to get the oil to flow, but eventually the plastic cracked and it leaked out very quickly (as viscous as bar oil is).

Thanks for the tip tho I still see it as a design flaw
Good to know
I also have the 12" and was having issues with it leaking bar oil. I now just try to add oil as needed, and I also store it on it's side with the oil filler cap facing up.
It's not really a "leak" though. The oiler is literally just a hole that slowly trickles bar oil out. It doesn't matter if the saw is running or not, there's nothing preventing the oil from just coming out. You can store it on its side so gravity keeps the oil in the tank or empty it like others are mentioning. Everyone calling it a "leak" or a "design flaw" just doesn't understand how chain saws work. If your bar doesn't have a lot of oil on it, you should be worried that your oiler is plugged with sawdust.
All chainsaws will eventually leak bar oil.
Yes they leak, but they don't empty the reservoir like this one.
Second- it flings oil off of bar excessively. Poor design
Third- it is slow, bounces off of limbs when cutting.
No more electric chain saws for me.
It's a novelty item.
