https://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWAL.../318965414

Regular Price: $549.00
Price After "Hack": $347.24

For those unfamiliar with Home Depot "Hack". The hack involves only getting the chainsaw kit. You will use the value of the free battery to reduce the main kit price.

How to do the Hack:
Option 1: Order the battery to one store and order the Chainsaw kit to a store near you. Pick up the chainsaw kit then go online and cancel the pick up on the Battery at the other store. This will result in only getting charged the prorated value of the chainsaw kit which will be the "Hack" Price.

Option 2: Order for home Delivery then just return the battery to a local store. Can also ship it back but that's more of a hassle.

Happy hunting.

Home depot often says product no longer available remove it from your cart from deals but usually goes away after waiting some time. No idea what resolves it but I can usually order after waiting a few hours unless truly oos

Really depends on the management at the store. Some stores stay on top of orders and cancel after 7 days some just dont care lol. If the option isn't there to cancel online just call the store during non-peak hours, basically anytime not at lunch, right when they open or right when people get off work.

My store could not cancel the battery order. That's why it sat for 3 weeks past the final pick up date. They ended up marking the order as picked up and refunded me instead. So going forward a return is always the best solution.

I don't see why you would "hack" this one. If you are doing a few hours of tree work you want as many of those giant batteries as you can get your hands on and this is a decent deal with the battery. It takes about 4 of the 60v 3AH (9AH @ 20v) to have enough power to continually use the tool, I.e. when you drain the first one it's recharged before you drain the next 3. It's an expensive investment when you consider the batteries but I'm never going back to gas. This is a great saw, has plenty of power, the brake is a really good safety feature, and I love how quiet it is and that it's totally off when you let go of the trigger. I dare say tree work is relaxing with it.

The leaky bar comments are hilarious to me. You want a chainsaw to piss bar oil everywhere. The more the better. Makes your blades last longer, your cuts faster and in this case, more cuts per battery. A chainsaw that oils the bar properly is always going to dribble oil. Drain it when you're done or store it where it doesn't matter, its a chainsaw people. "I wish my chainsaw leaked less bar oil" is a sentence spoke by no arborist ever.

What else are these 60 volt batteries good for? I actually have this chainsaw, and am curious if that means i should invest in the rest of their eco system

This system- https://www.amazon.com/DEWALT-DCS...B08QVGYCDD

It works with other universal attachments (not just Dewalt). I have the edger, pole saw, and trimmer.

I think similarly unless you already have batteries.

I assume this one can take a 9AH 60V battery as well, as I see ACME has the 16" saw + 9ah battery for $329. Seems like a decent deal also unless I'm missing something. https://www.acmetools.com/dewalt-...=affiliate

Debating on getting one of these. I typically only use my saw a few times a year and its a PITA to get it started and keep it running. At this point I only keep the gas/oil mixture for my saw and blower and have moved to electric for everything else.

The bar oil definitely leaks on DeWalt saws. We have every single size and they all leak
I refuse to purchase another chainsaw until they fix the leak. It is shameful that they're not putting more research and effort into fixing the leak, I refuse to clean up the oily floor anymore.

Yeah my 12" dewalt chainsaw leaks a little. I just drain it every use. beast of a saw otherwise.

The 18" and 20" 60V are considered "Gen 2" in the 60V line up and most reviewers say they dont leak.

I just ordered one so I cant speak to personal experience.
I have the 12 inch as well. If I place it on its side with the filler cap up, mine doesn't leak. If I store it bottom side down, it leaks a lot.

The 15ah monster with the 20" makes that one about as cheap as any if you're willing/going to also flip the "package" battery on top of hacking the free battery. Those things sell for a pile of money right now due to MSRP/supply..

I would not get another dewalt chainsaw. Had a 12" from a prior SD and the oil leaked out on its own and made a disaster on my garage shelf. Exchanged it and same thing with the second. Dewalt CS is of no help either.

If you store it on its side so the cap faces up it does not happen(I had same experience til I found that)

You just have to store it with fill cap up so blade is horizontal instead of vertical and it doesn't leak.
