IOW, Will it save you time, struggle, etc. and allow you to relax, do nothing, or even more/other things? Can you afford not to acquire the [item]?
It's like buying software utilities. I could say that I don't need it because I can do the work manually, but what does that really cost me? Time, effort, frustration (even utilities are not free from these issues, but...).
