I have the S7 and the mopping is awesome. No issues whatsoever. What exactly do you mean by unreliable?

You can control the level of suction. And these robot vacs aren't getting as powerful as the corded ones. I can follow my S7 MaxV with my corded Dyson and get more dirt/dog hair off the rugs every time. Gotta balance performance and battery life.

Thank you for all the mop pad reassurance. I have new carpet that is higher pile. I just didn't think it would clear the carpet sufficiently with the wet pad. I just don't see how there is enough room.

If you're on the fence about getting the dock, just do it. We jumped on the refurb deal a few weeks ago and it's been nothing but a dream. Avoidance works really well and the mop compared to the s5 is night and day difference in cleaning. I grabbed the mop dryer off AliExpress door $50 and it works perfect.

Totally worth the investment to keep your floors clean.

I have the S4 max and the Q5+ with the dock. The S4 max seems to have better battery life but less suction. The dock is nice but honestly I'm not loving the proprietary bags. When they decide to stop making those, I'm stuck with a very expensive vacuum. I wish there was a bagless auto empty version.

I have hardwood and thick pile carpet. How does the mop do over the carpet? I'm afraid it's just going to drag it over and perhaps leave a mess.
