If you want a Pixel phone, this is the one phone to avoid in my opinion. I hated this phone and I am fan of Pixel phones.

The fingerprint unlock barely works with or with a screen protector, the phone runs hot and if you plan on using the phone for GPS on the dash, good luck as it'll overheat and will eventually turn off. You also randomly lose network connection to your cellular network and will need to toggle airplane mode on and off or have to completely restart the phone.

I traded this in as soon as the Pixel 7 was available and the experience has been much better.

The method below still seems to work as reported in pixel 6 pro FP deal.

If you are thinking about getting this and then cancel the line and unlock the phone read on about what we learnt from the FP deal on AT&T z fold 3 deal https://slickdeals.net/f/16532599-256gb-samsung-galaxy-z-fold3-5g-2-in-1-smartphone-various-carriers-from-300-activation-required-free-shipping?page=110.

1. ATT changed their unlock policy on 3/18 (middle of the z fold 3 deal perhaps due to SD effect) to require 60 days of service before they can unlock a fully paid device. Previously, it used to be right away if you have paid in full.
2. There two timeline for the cancellation. If you cancel a line before 3 days it was active then the activation fee is waived. If you cancel it within 14 days from activation under buyers remorse then no bill is charged but activation fees need to be paid. The line activates on right when you place the order not the day you receive the phone on hand so you might have to pay the activation fee of $30.
3. You can use a tello number and port to ATT but you would have to make sure porting is successful by going to https://www.att.com/portstatus/. Many from z fold 3 got stuck in porting limbo and got the ATT account cancelled.
4. As with many deals here, a SIM swap method is found which can be used to unlock the device. This was working recently but not sure if ATT would fix it by the time you try it. The steps are as follows.
a. Pay in full for the phone.
b. When you receive the phone activate it on ATT with the SIM provided. Make sure it shows up on myATT app/in the web so ATT knows and registers the IMEI in the network. Then put the SIM in another unlocked phone, reboot, make some calls and make sure this unlocked phone is now showing under the line in app/web portal.
c. Now go to ATT unlock portal https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/ and then choose not an ATT customer and use the IMEI of Pixel 6 pro and submit an unlock request.
d.Confirm the unlock request email and receive the unlock code.
e. Only cancel the line after you have unlocked the phone.

Many of us have got it to work and have an unlocked z fold 3 now. Hope this helps! Please report back so we know if this still works.

1.Yes
2. Unlock after 60 days

Was paid in full when you bought it (it was not purchased on an installment plan). You must wait 60 days from your purchase date to submit an unlock request.

I just purchased the 6, even though it said I could have it shipped to my house on the checkout page it wouldn't allow me to checkout with shipping. I switched to pickup from store and it worked.

I purchased for my son a few days ago (it was a few dollars more then) and though I had to put the phone number in that I was upgrading it didn't actually activate a new SIM card. In this case I just swapped the one from his old phone into the new one. So I assume that means you don't technically have to "activate" the new phone, you do however have to pay the $30 activation fee.

So we need to keep new line active for 60 days and then cancel? What's the minimum needed to pay on at&t line before I can cancel the service, unlock the device and keep the phone at this price?

Thank you, ordered 6a to replace my 4a with a bad charge port. I think the 6A cost with this offer isn't too different from having the port replaced (DYI looks like a nightmare with so many failure points as evidenced by the comments on ifixit)

In this case since ur paying in full, are you not required to be on at&t for 60 days?

The SIM swap method exploits their automated systems which I think is not enforcing their policy when the phone dissociates from the account. You can cancel the account within 14 days under buyers remorse policy. You might/might not get a bill but you should be able to cancel it out by calling them.
