These Celerons have been superceded by the Intel N95 and N100 which are about 25% faster and don't cost much more. Look up the Beelink S12 as one example. Also, it's better to buy from Amazon because of their easy returns.

This machine is about equivalent of a 12 year old machine. The cpu rating is 4000, I would pick up a used machine with a rating of 15000.

A lot of news and lectures can be listened to at 2x to save time.

The Mac MINI is vastly stronger than these. Unless you prefer windows, the mac mini at 299 is the better deal.
Double the price, depending on use that is an awful deal.

I don't know whether this is a good deal or not, but if you're stating you're about to do something, you'd be "about to pull the trigger" as opposed to ending something which would have you say you're "about to pull the plug."
Meh. I've heard both ways. The way the county is headed for new records with stuff, plug sounds like it ends about 1 life.

Really like the look of the Beelink S12 Pro, but would like to pay less and not have a Windows license (going to run Linux). Can the included Win11 be resold?

question is .. do you want Windows or Mac OS?
I care but don't care. Principally I wouldn't want to give apple money but most of work is os agnostic

On grandma? Damn, sharing that info on SD. I guess we all have our own ways of grieving.

Depends on how fast the original video is, but think of your traditional training videos:

"Remember.....(camera slowly pans over to the blade)......when operating the T800 rotary saw....(the blade starts up and cuts into wood)....it is always important to keep your hands away from the spinning blade."

Those can be painfully slow with long pauses. With practice, it's possible to understand even normal lectures at 2x. I've listened to lectures at 1.5x-1.75x comfortably, but I never got up to 2x.
Same. I listened to most of my online college courses at 1.5x and paused when I needed to. Saves a bunch of time on a 3 hour lecture.

I recommend spending a few dollars more and getting an N100 model. The Bee Link N100 16gb/500gb model is $177 on AE, and about 25% more performant.

it's 15 watts..power usage on par with a laptop and 4000 is solid

I gave these N5095 mini pcs a fair shake and are honestly too slow for basic Windows 11 web consumption machine. Did not handle YouTube 4K well at all with a ton of dropped frames. These chips are better in appliance type devices with multiple ethernet ports like firewalls.

Thank you for walking me off the ledge of convincing myself I needed another one of these to mount behind the seldom-used LCD near our kitchen to stream live sports from questionable sources.

Conveniently left off the word "Celeron" from the processor description. I don't know about you guys, but when I see Celeron, I avoid at all cost.
Same here.

I agree, listening to lectures and tutorials at 2x speed is nice… however when you get used to it, it's difficult to have normal conversations with people lol.

Sorry to hijack this… but If I was just looking for a computer that just runs all day that I remote into, would that "BeeLink mini S12" mentioned earlier be good for it? I just have some Windows-only apps that I use, and I remote in from my Apple devices. I don't need to watch videos or play games, just some web browsing and basic apps

Also, never heard of this brand. Other than Intel's NUC, which be pricey, seems bunch of China companies putting them out. Any risk of backdoors in the hardware?
Well, Lenovo (a major manufacturer) got caught putting nasty stuff in their firmware years ago. Considering these small companies get less attention and have less to lose, make of that what you will.
