I got these in 2019 in costco for the same price. I live in Northern California & a few hours from 1 of the most beautiful places on earth, if not THE most beautiful, Yosemite National Park.

Pros: always love cork, lightweight
always love carbon fiber, lightweight
the tips can be changed for different functionality

Con: the strap does not adjust & lock into place, so they ALWAYS gradually move into the loosest strap slack when hiking.
The loose strap may make you fiddle around with grips while moving arms. So there is the potential to be less accurate when placing pole in steep cliff areas, so a bit unsafe as well. Wrist or forearm skin can also start chafing b/c the straps are not properly fit. I can tie a double knot, but it's an unideal & crude solution compared to other poles' locking ability.

That's my review & those were my experiences.

The 1 con mostly makes them to a backup set, or letting friends use. This is b/c when hiking 15+ miles, it's best to have properly engineered & functioning gear.

They are a great bang for your buck tho, b/c you cannot find cork & carbon fiber anywhere else for that price.

These are 100% the best deal in hiking poles. You'd have to spend $100+ to find any that are significantly better, and not THAT much better. Thru-hikers carry these for thousands of miles. They're light (1lb for the pair) and reliable.

A great long-term review is here [andrewskurka.com]. Summary: they're good, and there's only two slight downsides. The original plastic locknuts can break (you can replace with metal ones from the hardware store) and the carbide tips will wear out a little faster than expensive poles, but you can replace them.

Incorrect deal description, 80$ online price is for 2 pack(4 poles total), which also is currently available at $70, online discount. So,in-store has the $35 item for $25. Still a good deal though.

You're partly mistaken. It's not just an old people thing. Lots of <30 UL hikers use these and do double duty as tent poles. On wet, uneven, muddy stuff they're truly useful. But here's the thing; not falling over at 55 is one factor to keep hiking at 65 and 75. Better to use sticks than have to stop.

These are great trekking poles. What you get for the price is pretty good. The tips wear out faster than other brands. They start to become loose and spin around in the socket that hold the tips. I lost my tips when trying to use the poles in icy conditions. The ice just yanked out the carbide tips.

To remove the tips, you have to cut the tips down the middle since they're glued onto the shaft. Replacement tips don't work very well for them or even at all. I've tried replacing with Leki universal tips but the diameter of the shaft isn't correct for them.

However, you can find parts on their website to replace with. I ended up having to replace the entire lower section the tips are glued on. It was about $20, which was the same as the Leki replacement tips.
