It's got raised handles which I imagine makes it possibly makes it easier. But who knows, never tried this kitchen aid one.

Personally I don't really like these as they always seem to leave a bit of the core in the middle of the slices that I have to further remove and they core out a bit of the edible part of the apple at the top and bottoms. The wasted edible part is minor and not that big of a deal, but having to remove the extra bits after slicing kinda kills the appeal of this, to me at least
It's kinda important to the process.
Mine cost me $10 in 2021, so the OP is very economical in today's economy.

In fact, I remember being really impressed about how well it worked.
That hinged plate does help tremendously more than I thought it would.

The safety piece is actually pretty important. Not for safety but to actually get the blade to go all the way through the apple.
As for the middle core, the diameter is pretty small. For the one I linked at least, not sure of the others since I'm not going to buy a duplicate if I don't have to lol
The more blade cutter is a bit harder to use, especially on slightly lopsided apples. I find it best when sharing with others.
The OP one works fine as the pieces are large enough to pull through if they don't completely cut off.
Either way, it changes Apple eating as you can sort of leave the apple out and graze on it while walking through the kitchen.
