When the apple core is stuck after cutting just break it off and push the tiny bit stuck in there out with a pointy object. Definitely do not try to push it out with your thumb. Somehow I though that was ok to do and needed Stiches in my thumb. Lesson learned
Or just pull the piece from the other end v.s pushing from the blade end

How fast do the blade dull out before going to the dollar store for a replacement?

Well crap, I was actually looking for one of these.
I have this [amazon.com] one that slices smaller and works well, but I wanted bigger slices. In 4 1

I've had my apple cutter from the Dollar Tree (when things cost a dollar) for about 8 years. Still sharp, still works great.

The one I have is all steel with rubber on the handles. I think I picked it up at walmart many moons ago. The entire blade part eventually fell out but a little J-B Weld fixed the issue and its been slicing fine since.

I'm sure this works great, but the plastic will eventually break.

If you slice apples daily, I would suggest an all metal slicer.

I have one. It is very sharp and the last slicer I will need to buy.

They are more money, but like most things in life, you get what you pay for.

I use these to cut potatoes into wedges to keep them in uniform shape. Works well!

I used one of these for the good part of a year. Then one day, I pulled it out to use on an apple, as I always had before, and as I was pushing down, the metal blades broke away from the plastic. The metal was stuck in the apple about halfway and went up the sides of my hands as I was still pushing the plastic down when it happened. Luckily, I was uninjured. Somehow the metal slid along my skin but didn't cut me. Still don't know how I made it away without a cut but I don't use things like this anymore.

Not sure without doing some digging into my manuals. I searched my amazon account with no luck. I think I bought it locally. Probably from walmart or dollar general.

The product itself has no writing, the painted metal part is silver in color, the blades are stainless steel and the rubber handle parts are dark gray.

We have the one in the OP, been working great for years, you do have to pull up on the apple slices (I kinda grab the whole thing back into it's constituent apple and pull) to cut that last tiny bit but it makes it way easier to serve our kids apples especially in sharable amounts from a single apple for a couple kids as a snack. I'd knock it's ease of cleaning but it fits well in the dishwasher on the middle rack and comes clean every time that way.
