Oh, and appliances, too, but they're not worth mentioning since they're so unreliable.

this is so lame. I checked on Monday for the cost of a Samsung s23+ on Wed during their "24 hour special" and it was the same exact price as Monday. I chatted with support and asked why is it a "24 hour deal" if it is the same price as it was before.

Don't shoot the piano player. I just posted what the tech press was (mis)reporting / hyping. Because somebody else would have, anyway.
And thankfully for you, the Samsung shills were out in full force, otherwise your post would've been downvoted into oblivion.

Looks like right now I can get 800 trade in credit for my s21+ through verizon. Upgrading to s23+ will cost me $190. Seems pretty good/reasonable. Am I missing anything here?

You pay for the "discount" indirectly through the Verizon service that you're locked in for the next xx months. If you're planning to stay with Verizon for that long anyway, it's OK. But getting locked in prevents you from switching to another provider that has better/less expensive service.

Yeah. Essentially a 36-month contract. And much higher rates than other providers.

Those are bill credits. Nothing is free. Verizon isn't stupid and is simply charging you a lot more each month over those 36 months than you'd be paying otherwise. Much better to buy an unlocked phone outright and go with a prepaid carrier like Visible, Metro, or Cricket.

Discounts on phones are nowhere close to qualify a "limited time deal". Plus tradein values are low.

Thru Verizon dot com. But it's a 3-year contract.
