*IF* your hiking trails are relatively flat, I think something like the Hokas would be great but if you've got much up and down, the float of the Hokas (and their ilk) leave me feeling a bit "disconnected" from the trail and prefer something where I feel more connected to the terrain underfoot.
(...but +1,000 on "hiking BOOTS are rarely needed for most folks..."!)

You're right that the gift cards aren't eligible for the 10% back, but the items you purchase with the gift card are.
