You can't stack the coupon and discounts. Also your math is wrong. Percentage discounts are not additive.

REI is running a promo that gets you an extra 15% in the form of a bonus card if you plan to spend >$120:

"Members, buy a $120+ REI gift card through May 18 and earn a bonus card worth 15% of your purchase!" Note the bonus card must be spent 5/30/23-6/8/23 (right after this coming sale)

Just buy the gift card to use yourself.

Details are at the top of their gift cards webpage:

https://www.rei.com/gift-card/purchase

Doing this won't affect your members' "10% back" or Rei credit card "5% rewards". You'll get the 15% bonus card in addition to all that.

I'm just looking for something to wear for a hike with family like once a year or so, lasting an hour to a few hours, on I'm guessing easy to moderate terrain. I've worn sneakers in the past, and figured that shoes designed for hiking would be better.
I would simply wear walking shoes for this, or perhaps trail runners. At this level of use specialized stuff is total overkill.

Question, if I buy a Yakima skybox. regular price - $749.99 - 20% coupon. Does this still get the 10% rewards?

Might come off as stupid but can't seem to find a solid answer anywhere. Can one put hardshell carry-ons inside a roof box? Currently using a soft roof bag and think a hard box would be much better.
Yes, if the hard box if big enough to fit the carry-on.

I love my roof box. If you look on FB marketplace, you can score some great deals. They take up a lot of space and some ppl just want to get rid of them. I was able to get a Yakima brand one that retails for $500 and got it for $150 lol.

REI is weird. I expected the coupon to only apply to one item, but turns out you can make multiple orders of the same item and apply the coupon repeatedly (and get the discount) - but not place the same order on multiple items. Given that I have the REI membership, REI is losing money by shipping these in multiple boxes. In addition, unless you have the REI MC, the 10% rewards are calculated once a year in March - and there is no record of pending rewards anywhere on the site itself (have to do a manual calculation at the end of the year by addiing up all the purchases, and they are dispensed once a year in March). A pretty ridiculous setup. when even the CB sites can post pending CB right after a purchase - any idea why REI has it set up this way?

Members, use code ANNIV23 to save 20% on one eligible full-price item and one REI Outlet item through 5/29.

Not many times you see Yeti on sale, the code works for all other things but Yeti was the big one. Example is the Tundra 45 goes from $325 to $260 before tax and possibly shipping.

Go for trail running shoes. It's like a sneaker, but with a more gripping sole.

The hiking shoes is harder in sole and less comfortable. But if you get the mid-height shoes, it gives better ankle protection. So, it depends.

I have both types, and like 90% of the time, I use trail running shoes.

I'm with another poster. Wish they carried the Tundra Haul (tundra with wheels). The handlebar on the Roadie looks too flimsy in the pictures.

What's the best hiking shoe to buy at Rei in terms of value and price? I only see those Merrill deals from Amazon, but wanted something nicer quality, water proof. Is Solomon one of the best?
I like Altra superior /lone peak and Topo Runventure trialrunners.
Saucony peregrines also have very good grip if you can fit their narrower shape.

Nope, it's either the coupon or the rewards.

My son is in boys scouts so I have to buy a tent. Can anyone recommend a lightweight 2 or 3 person tent that is on sale (around $250-$350 budget)? I don't mind paying a little more if it is more durable. I heard the elastics in the poles on the REI branded tents will dry and snap, but can't be repaired/replaced. Thanks

Does anyone use these roof cargo baskets https://www.rei.com/product/10319...rgo-basket
on their van or is it more for low cars?
Love this cargo basket. I use it on my forester. Make sure to get the extension. I also use it with a cargo bag for all weather versatility. I can fit my folded 10x10 canopy in the basket, then surround it with all of my other camping gear. Frees up trunk space, which can be limiting in the forester.

When not in use, I hang it on my garage wall and actually use it like a peg board for my gym equipment and accessories. I just attach hooks on the basket, and the accessories go on the hooks. More space saving and versatile than a cargo box IMHO.

Does it attach to the two rails on the forester or do I need cross beams or some rack system? I have a 2016
