I care not because of that, but because their waterproof claims suck. They all leak after a month or so and their glued on soles are horrible. Wolverine is another once respected company that went cheap and if you do any kind of real outdoor work in all weather conditions look elsewhere. Cat brand something, Keen something. Currently my Timberland Pros aren't leaking but the build quality on them are also garbage. My search continues.
Do you know of Rose Anvil on YouTube? They literally cut boots and shoes in half to see their construction and leather grade. They've debunked some claims of "quality boots" and shown them to be cheap and below average quality.
Maybe that can steer you I the right direction.
Thanks for the info, didn't know!! Wolverine owns Merrell and a bunch of other mainstream shoe companies so implications are wide. Though Scotchguard is commonly used in MANY items, including furniture, and carpets, so hard to avoid.

Whether you care or not, Wolverine's waterproof shoes contain PFAS chemicals and Wolverine is a significant contributor to PFAS pollution. They make good boots but I also like to not be poisoned by my clothes.

I just got a pair of the Kickstart directly from Wolverine for a couple bucks more and have found them to be very comfortable so far.

We had to stop buying Wolverine when they shipped overseas the boot our workshop guys always bought.

They narrowed the boots, so, for me, even extra-wide weren't so 'extra' anymore.
Hope others can find what they need in this excellent sale.

As I said before… the quality of wolverine boots have gone downhill over the last decade. These were my go-to work boots but apparently according to other slickdealers they were bought out by another company and the quality went to poop. Sucks.

Another case of "in my day that was THE premium brand."

We see the same thing with the reputation for Bose, Marshall, JBL, Toshiba. In many cases these companies have been purchased by conglomerates and had all their designs and mfr standards gutted to increase the profit ratio.

In my day? Dude I'm in my 30's lol. It wasn't too long ago that wolverine used to be known for their boots. Then some company bought them up and they're being made in some other country.

I picked up a couple of slick deals on 1000 mile boots a couple of years ago, and they are pretty amazing, are they ruined now too? From what I understood they were being made to the same standards for a long time when I bought them, and they certainly seem well made, are very nice, and have worn well! Of course, even with a slick deal I ended up paying $300/pr so they are in a different price category, but then I was able to pick exactly the color, sole, style, etc. that I wanted vs. only having weird combos to choose from that I am normally limited to when picking up a slick deal on shoes. That said, at the time I think that $100 off MSRP was a great deal compared to normal, especially since one pair was the black Metallica Foundation or whatever limited edition (I didn't care about the metallica part, but I liked the color/sole combo).

These 1000 mile boots are just as well made as the RW Iron Rangers I picked up around the same time which I read were the "standard" good off the shelf boot. I was restocking after my last pair of industrial docs bought on clearance like 15 years fell apart, Docs has/had definitely fallen off on quality Frown.

I remember looking at other wolverine boots on SD (all over seas made) over the last year or two all being bad quality... but they haven't ruined the 1000 mile too have they??

I recommend his videos as well, I used them to decide on what I got, although he hadn't done 1000 miles yet at the time, and watching what he recently posted about them, look like they took some short cuts (considering the price, not cool).

His videos were what made me want to buy Nick's boots. I have heard about them for years, but to do it right, you gotta do a custom fitting, and then there is a pretty long wait to get them, and of course $$. But, they seem worth the price, and a pair are on my list if I ever start working out side more again. They seem like they will last forever.
