currently a rush to clear out 1st generation commercial 3d printers to make way for the new generation that is giving them a run for the money.

these printers were great then when we HAD to deal with all the tinkering that took a lot of time.

The next gen printers save you a ton of time, and i dont know how much you make an hour, but i doubt you'd want to waste time fixing the machine in exchange for work that pays.

if the bambu came out 3 years ago before i got all the ender 3s, i would have just gone with bambu. thousands of dollars in time tinkering unnecessarily.

Waiting for an sv07 plus. love my sv06 plus so far, printed dozens of things with no experience this past month. worked out of the box with provided pla, took some tweaking to get it to run inland pla+ from microcenter. oh and had one issue with my nozzle, but fixed it fairly easily. overall solid printer.

need a deal on a 3d scanner or might look into diy options. clear and black pla has been cheap and acrylic paint markers on Amazon are super cool for finishing prints.

printing origami carabiners, USB dust covers, and random storage accessories have been my favorite. the customizer on thingiverse is rad too.

edit: cancelled the pla I ordered with my printer direct from sovol. it was backordered for 2.5 months so far with no anticipated ship date. the provided pla ran great and would have liked more but wasn't worth the wait/price for me. sovol refunded me after 2-3 emails back and forth

You keep talking about your creality printers. Have you ever spent any time with a sovol sv06 or a Prusa mark 3s that it's based on? Because if you're saying that the prusa is a typewriter then you're just being ridiculously bombastic. I've already heard your song and dance when people were eulogizing bedslingers when corexy became popular.

Any reason to wait for the SV07 Plus over buying SV06 Plus right now? What was the issue with your nozzle?

Installing Klipper firmware on the SV06 / SV06 Plus is easy enough. Looks like at least early review copies of the SV07 are shipping with MKS Pi boards, which is an available(Amazon or Aliexpress) Raspberry Pi alternative.

The SV07 has returned to Ender-style POM wheels instead of the SV06 printers' linear rails. Also, the bed has the yellow stiffer springs and adjustment wheels folks swap onto Ender 3 printers. The rear-mounted part cooling fan on the SV07 looks novel. Having the built-in under-bed drawers on the SV07 is nice.

It almost feels like getting an SV06 Plus and Klipper-izing it yourself would get you an arguably better printer, and you'll have it sooner.

you just missed the mole scanner from 3dmaker. easily the best in its class...BUT with the way 3d technology is advancing in such short time due to the highly competitive market...i bet scanner prices will drop or new tech will come out within the year.

i got the mole scanner for i think $300?. its back to $500 but i bet it will come down black friday f you cant wait

but compared to the ender 3 s1, this is a bad deal. also you cant install klipper which is the next generation firmware.

dont get left in the past with 3d printing. i love old cars, instruments, video games, etc...

3d printing is not something you want to invest in an older generation.

this would be the equivalent of buying a typewriter right now instead of buying an inkjet printer.

you can install klipper on the sv06, and the plus if you replace the screen. I don't know about the others

Thank you for this. I have been holding off on one for this exact reason. Time is valuable. So that has to be a consideration in the price. Something I tend to forget so ty for the reminder!

While I don't disagree that maybe this is not the most advanced or up to date (I have a Bambu P1P, a Voron 2.4, a Voron 0.2, and a Voxlab Aquila which was my first printer), the comparison of a typewriter to an inkjet is disingenuous. This is more like maybe a honda civic compared to a tesla.

This thing will do most things a 3d printer needs to do and its $222. Its an entry level printer. It will be slower. Might need more maintenance. But, it will also teach you the ins and out of how a printer works and still allow you to get pretty good prints. I am glad I got my Aquila because it really helped me understand how they work.

If I could only chose one printer, I would go with the Bambu Labs P1P, but that is also 3x the cost. You need to factor is the cost to performance ratio of this deal.

I have the Bambu p1p and I love it. Eventually bought an enclosure kit for it and 3d printed some updates. I love that machine.

the comparison is a bit colorful, but very true i think, though it sounds extreme.

if this was a year ago, i would not give this deal any flack. but as someone who prints to sell, and has invested a lot into these fdm/sla printers ( i have 6 printers and the creality belt many don't have due to its complex alignment)(i print body kits at a high margin so tinkering with this belt is worth the time to me)

3x the price sounds terrifying but it equates to $400.

if you can make $400 a day or two, which many do here. it is not much money to hold out on.

the countless hours you will spend tinkering on a old creality or this sovol or any past gen machines will not be worth the hours you give up...IF you make around $100+ a day.

If you made $100 a day. holding out 4 days of work for an investment into a next generation machine that will not only make you money, but save you tons of time.

the old gen machines NEED A LOT OF UPKEEP. that equates to a lot of time you have to invest into these old gens compared to a next gen.

all i can tell you is, if you have sold prints for over long duration. you will see the time adds up.

bottom line is my best advice for printers - buy the one that works for your purpose. many people aren't printing to sell and only want to print very few things for hobby. this is a great printer for you. although the ender 3st on sale at $200 is far better and it will come down to this as a normal price soon.

btw, i hope i don't come off arrogant or like i know better.

i really mean to share this with the utmost respect, and care for others who may want to save time from my experience.

i've lost a lot of time/money off my personal job to tend to prints messing up and it can kill a whole day easily. I lose so much money from my work to fix this. i realized it is costing me money to 3d print for customers. IT IS INEVITABLE for prints to mess up without an auto alignment system or AI stop detection.

purchasing equation

how many days does it take you to make $400?
1-4 days?

If you only made $100 a day = it will take you 4 days to cover difference to buy a bambu

If you want to learn about the raw mechanics of a 3d printer. I highly suggest buying a used ender 3 and upgrading and printing everything.
i get perfect prints out the box every time. so even with that experience, you will have time wasting issues.

I agree 100%. Having started with an Ender 3, I also think that the knowledge gained through trial and error is priceless when diagnosing and fixing problems while 3D printing. The newer generation printers have much better slicer and profile support that allow more "out of the box" printing success but mechanically, they're still going capable of experiencing clogs, under extrusion issues, part failures, etc. and knowing how to recognize those issues helps a lot.

The biggest problem I had early on with the Ender 3 was the lack of consistent and reliable Cura profiles. Once Cura (and other slicers) started providing factory profiles and configurations included with the software, along with the software itself advancing with new features, out of the box printing with the Ender 3 and all its clones was pretty commonplace. All of the tinkering and upgrades people did to these printers were not entirely out of necessity but to wring out extra performance from an inexpensive printer.

I also lust over the BambuLab printers and would love to have one in the future, but at the current price, I just can't justify it. I still use the Ender 3 frequently and also have a Voxelab Aquila that prints everything I need for now. Having two inexpensive printers has been useful for cutting print time in half on multi part prints. Once you get the two machines' tolerances dialed in, it's very easy to send jobs to both printers and just let them run.

In my first year of printing for sales. i would say i spent about a weeks worth of time in maintaining the machine, at a very modest calculation..

that is $1500 worth of work i took off to work on the ender 3s. i chalked that up as a business loss

i have not wasted any time with a bambuu yet.
i hope people calculate this foresight that i didn't when i started my 3d business
