In my first year of printing for sales. i would say i spent about a weeks worth of time in maintaining the machine, at a very modest calculation..

that is $1500 worth of work i took off to work on the ender 3s. i chalked that up as a business loss

i have not wasted any time with a bambuu yet.
i hope people calculate this foresight that i didn't when i started my 3d business
You keep talking about your creality printers. Have you ever spent any time with a sovol sv06 or a Prusa mark 3s that it's based on? Because if you're saying that the prusa is a typewriter then you're just being ridiculously bombastic. I've already heard your song and dance when people were eulogizing bedslingers when corexy became popular.

the comparison is a bit colorful, but very true i think, though it sounds extreme.

if this was a year ago, i would not give this deal any flack. but as someone who prints to sell, and has invested a lot into these fdm/sla printers ( i have 6 printers and the creality belt many don't have due to its complex alignment)(i print body kits at a high margin so tinkering with this belt is worth the time to me)

3x the price sounds terrifying but it equates to $400.

if you can make $400 a day or two, which many do here. it is not much money to hold out on.

the countless hours you will spend tinkering on a old creality or this sovol or any past gen machines will not be worth the hours you give up...IF you make around $100+ a day.

If you made $100 a day. holding out 4 days of work for an investment into a next generation machine that will not only make you money, but save you tons of time.

the old gen machines NEED A LOT OF UPKEEP. that equates to a lot of time you have to invest into these old gens compared to a next gen.

all i can tell you is, if you have sold prints for over long duration. you will see the time adds up.

bottom line is my best advice for printers - buy the one that works for your purpose. many people aren't printing to sell and only want to print very few things for hobby. this is a great printer for you. although the ender 3st on sale at $200 is far better and it will come down to this as a normal price soon.
You are talking a very different use case. You are right, this would not be a good purchase for a business selling 3d prints. This is an entry level hobby printer. It's like going to a thread about a Honda CR-V and complaining it's a bad buy because it can't tow the 2000 lbs of deliveries you need to make for your business but the 3x as expensive F250 truck can...

I've been looking for some side projects to keep me from going crazy and I've really wanted to get into printing.

I'm hoping to learn some things and eventually make a few bucks on the side.

What kind of printing services are in demand for a potential hobby down the road?

like i said im not here to debate and it seems you are offended and trying to defend your purchase. i dont mean anything specific about creality. i just mean all last gen printers. i am not getting another creality for the moment so that proves you are wrong about me trying to defend creality...

like i said, im not here to debate, i figured it would trigger some people. i dont have time to argue with strangers online. not my thing. its cool if you like to.

im just sharing this to save someone time if they want to save time. if they want to spend time tinkering. go ahead. i love to myself and have tons of technical hobbies.

but if i may ask, is there anything going on with your personal life right now you'd want to share privately? i know it helps a lot to talk to someone, even a stranger. theres a lot of power behind sharing any struggles you may be going through. i pray for you and wish you the best. god bless you my friend <3 you are loved..

someone doesnt realize the reality of mass 3d printing.

you dont spend time maintaining an inkjet printer. it just prints and you replace the ink cartidge. no time wasted. a typewriter takes much maintenance, cleaning and replacing parts.

over time this adds up. but im guessing you guys are in college and don't have work right now? such free time, im jealous!

i apologize to the others for reading through all the junk. theres a touchy community with some 3d printer guys and its comparable to those "my ford is better than your chevy" guys

just ignore all that and focus on the machine. my advice. go to youtube and do not listen to any of us

and i never said creality is better than sovol or prusa. they could easily be 3x 10 times better. and it wouldnt matter because all last gen printers are obsolete to the bambu as of current.

bragging about your prusa? go check youtube on the newly released mk4 for $1100 vs bambu p1p

You need to stop assuming you know anything about me. You also failed to answer my question, which suggests to me you have no actual experience with anything other than creality and bambu printers. This means you don't really have any basis to speak about how unreliable they are.

You also fail to comprehend that the use case many people have is vastly different from yours. If you step back from the egocentrism you'd realize $700 to $1000 is a waste of money for what most people are doing. Most of the people that cruise these threads aren't going to start a printing business.

I don't need to justify anything. In fact, I'd say you need to stop projecting your own complex that's led you to spam post half the comments in this thread. I know I don't need to spend over twice as much to make the few mold positives I need or the prototype pieces I need. I'm better off spending that money on scrap aluminum. If I can save money and get something vaguely similar to the wanhoa i3 I've been using for the last 6 years that can print about 12x12 in CF...that I might be interested in. Unfortunately, there probably won't be any real information from people about this printer (like most of the other printer deals lately) because of the incessant threadcrapping bambu fanboys, of which apparently central casting sent us you today. So thanks for that.

Oh wow...I didn't even see your second post to me... Get help kid.

I had a the pen plotter from Sovol direct. I had it for all of a week before the pen actuator motor broke. I reached out to support and it was a bit of a hassle. I was able to rig up the new motor included but was disappointed in the strong arming I had to do to get them to admit it was a defect. I was able to negotiate a partial refund ($10 dollars from a $100 sale) but it wasn't the best experience. YMMV.

My daughter is looking to get this exact printer for her 15th birthday in a couple weeks. She's totally new to 3d printing as am I (outside of a few hours of YouTube). After watching a bunch of review vids this seems to me this is going to be a good starter printer for her right?

I see someone said they had to tweak this to get the Inland PLA+ from Amazon working. Is there a brand/type of filament I can get off Amazon that works well with this?

Edit: last thing, despite the price drop we're just planning to order this from Amazon. Sure it's $40 more right now but if it breaks, or she looses interest in a week or two amazons return process is fantastic and what I'm reading is that Sovols is not.

Just bought the sv06 (not the plus) for my oldest son's 13th bday a couple weeks back for $220 total (no tax...or tax included). It is substantially better than my Sidewinder X1 in reliability and print quality. In 2 weeks, he has learned how to slice models and print all on his own. He's also started a side hustle by selling 3d prints at school, lol.

Opinions are going to vary a lot, but in general the slightly more expensive elegoo Neptune 3 Pro is probably better (than either of these) for people that don't want to have to tinker.
