Best briquettes out there imo!

Walmart pretty much matched Academy Sports pricing! Only issue is these go in and out of stock a lot, so you have keep checking. I was able to order 4 bags of the briquettes at 1am a few weeks ago.

Walmart did a poor job packaging them in plastic bags instead of using cardboard boxes, as a result 2 bags got busted open and it was a mess. Walmart refunded me on the 2 bags and gave me a $10 credit.
Briquettes are better for low n slow
Lump is better for high n fast

Happy smoking and grilling

No shipping and not available near me. Too bad. I was really interested in trying this based on the reviews.

Ace Hardware normally has these on sale this time of year if you can't find at Walmart. I used to stock up with 6-7 bags of lump each year when on sale for $12 a bag. Supplement with Rockwood too, although double the cost, but a better lump in my opinion. This is hard to beat at this price.

Both are good.

Briquettes in my opinion are better for long cooks as they burn more consistently and you have more time for them to impart flavor.

For quicker and/or hotter cooks, go with lump.

But for what it's worth, I pretty much solely use briquettes with wood chunks mixed in.

Doesn't look like there are any briquettes in Virginia period.

Nice, was down to my last half bag of royal oak and I'm done with them. Royal oak is too inconsistent nowadays.

This is currently available at $19.99/20lb from my local Ace so this is a deal but not as big a deal as Walmart is making it.

I've had bad experiences with this particular lump lately. Takes forever to light sometimes, get only white billowy smoke and temp fluctuates too much. It's just not worth it imo. Even though people hate on Costco Cowboy lump, it's very predictable, stable and easy to light.
