Will post again. If you live in the Chicago/Milwaukee area then you can buy a lightly used Steelcase Gesture for $300 from a reputable resale shop. The one I bought still had tags attached.
I have another Gesture I purchased through Crandall and only have great things to say about both Crandall and the Gesture. Just want to let the SD community know that there is currently a better option available.

The chair is great.
I called them and spoke to one of the owners straight away which was shocking.
At the time, they offered extra thick seat cushion on the V2. Now it's included on every V2 no additional cost I believe.
I would recommend it.
They talked me out the herman miller as the net-style seat isn't for everyone and I'm glad I went with the V2.
When I assembled the chair, it had a grinding sound when leaning back. I called Crandall, again, straight to the owner of the company, and I sent them a video of the issue. They immediately walked me through a simple grease solution.
My chair remains in top condition and I haven't even tried to take care of it.
Would definitely buy again and definitely buy from Crandall.
I love good companies.
Very torn between doing that and going the Crandall route. Such a big price difference though!

First off, the chair obviously should not have come like that. They are supposed to thoroughly go thru each chair completely and fix and re-lube everything that needs it, and then test it to be sure it's working like new.
They have both an explanation and a video showing how thorough their re-manufacturing process (supposedly) is. The fact that your chair was making a grinding noise makes me question if they even did this process at all on the chair you bought.
In terms of their customer service to fix the chair, you were the one who did all the leg work and the one who actually fixed the problem. They simply told you what to do. IMHO, you should have been compensated in some way.

A lot of factors to consider. But generally speaking they are built to last a very long time, and MUCH longer than a typical Amazon or staples Chinese chair.

For clarity, all I had to do if I remember was spray one quick spritz of WD-40 inside the swiveling components.
It took under 20 seconds I think.
Could have also just used a Q-tip on the existing grease likely would have been fine as well.
