beware the dinner plates have shrunk from 10.75 inches to 10.25 inches

FWIW, for some reason the measurements that they publish don't always match reality. I recently replaced a bunch of serving bowls that I had last bought from Corelle like 10 years ago. The measurement listed on their website was off by like 1/2 an inch but I bought them anyway and they were exact replacements and match the ones that I still have.

The IKEA plates are cheaper, but last I checked Corelle was lighter and sleeker while not being noticeably more fragile. IKEA also has a different (not necessarily worse) aesthetic.

I prefer Corelle for both its style and its light weight, but plenty of people will disagree--either preferring the a different style or preferring a more substantial-feeling dish.

Is 9 3/4" the largest that IKEA offers in the Oftast line? I'm a little leery of such a small plate.

I somehow liked the Ikea plates. But both are good options.

These do work, and I strangely like their simplicity. However, the same simplicity gives them an unshakeable air of cheapness. They're the Trailer Park Boys of plates.

Agreed! The collection at IKEA is called OFTAST. The dinner plate (9.75 inch), bowl (2 inch & 4 inch), deep plate (8 inch), and the side plate (7.5 inch) are all 0.99 cents each - always. The quality is superb! And now you don't even have to walk the store. If paying for shipping isn't your thing click online and collect your items at the drive up. It honestly can't get better than that.

Worth pointing out for those that struggle to buy domestic: These are made in the US in Corning, New York.

Vitrelle (this set) has never been produced in China. It's always been the same plant in NY, even after Instant Brands acquired Corning's consumer division.

Is this an example of shrinkflation or Corelle helping us manage our portions?
Shrinkflation is making food portions smaller so they made plates to match

I want to point out how excellent this product is. Fat bonds to plastic. So plastic plates and bowls never feel truly clean. Plastic also leeches in food and stains and leeches out plastic which affects your endocrine and messes with your hormones. Glass and stainless steel are your two best friends. They both clean up nice and stay clear of the funkiness that comes with using so many other materials. These Corelle plates clean up nice and they are very light which makes washing dishes a breeze. As a personal preference I stay with all white. It's Timeless and I don't really care for the designs they have. The designs they use seem to be for the demographic of a woman that lived in 1970. I recommend not getting sets unless they are on point. It's better to get the individual vessels you want in the quantity you want and buy a few extra of each so when they break you can just replace them and they all still match. The 30 Oz Bowls the squarish plates and the serving platter are my favorites. The serving platter doubles as a large plate that I can make up and share with my girlfriend it doesn't have to be used as a platter. My two cents cheers

Did they change the Ikea ones? We bought some smaller plates and wanted to get more, but last time I looked it seems like they got thicker.

Just great everday plates and bowls.

That's disappointing to hear, one of the nice things is the ease of replacing your occasional broken plate/bowl as the design never really changed- now won't match stacking- though I use the dinner plates the least so still have a full eight after several years.
That is a simply incorrect. The dinner plates have always been 10.25". I have a 40+ year old set and just measured it. Don't post misleading information!

Got the same set in 1948 (before I was born) for free when buying boxes of laundry detergent.
I got these in 2156 (post apocalypse) for a roll of toilet paper and a used toothbrush.
