Subwoofers are power hogs and the bigger the driver, the more power they need. Most people don't understand that speaker power is logarithmic, which means you need large increases in power for small increases in volume. In this example, 1200W is only slightly louder than 600W, and moderately louder than 300W.
I like Elac but will never buy a powered speaker that relies on an app to change settings. It's one "end of support" announcement away from bricking your speaker's functionality.

That's the dumbest thing I've read here since, well, the last audio thread.
The Focal Grande Utopia has a frequency response of 18 Hz - 40 kHz +/- 3 dB. They measure 80" x 25" x 35" and weigh 584 lbs each. Perhaps you know of a better passive speaker design
1200W?? That's kinda nuts who even needs such powerful speakers?? (genuine question, I cannot fathom what kind of person would need that)
Who needs 2 subs? Who needs a 1000hp vehicle? I would like one don't don't want to afford it. If it's a passion, people tend not to compromise unless they have to.

Yeah it's highly exaggerated.
You can get a very nice full range HT speaker for under 1k per. 30-20k flat is pretty great for music, and really covers a large amount of the subwoofer spectrum. A dedicated subwoofer is still best for Home Theater, as people tend to forget it's a dedicated channel and LFE track. The speaker below is more than enough for your medium or large sized room in a home. We aren't talking about filling an auditorium with 500lb speakers.
Same would love to hear from someone that has experience with these speakers vs SVS esp the Sb-3000
I don't see any responses regarding this, so maybe I can get you a little bit of the way there, albeit not a response that fully answers your question. I have a SVS pb 2000 (yes, I know, not a 3000) and a smaller theater room of around 15' x 15'. I have the output at around 20% because the damn thing will send my house into orbit from the bass explosion if I turn it up any higher. Very rich, low sound that I doubt you will get much better sound that would be much more significant at any price. Are there better out there? Obviously, yes. But the pb2k's and 3k's are a lot more available at a lot more affordable price. Here's my point: svs is having a Memorial Day sale soon, and I will attest that even the refurbished units are top tier. I cannot speak to the 700's, but I will say you honestly cannot go wrong with a PB3k at sale price, if you even need that much punch.
