Buy another 20 bags when the sale is active, and before you leave the store, just return using your old receipt.

You probably got a lot better deal, too. 30 yards of this stuff would be over $800.

I have rubber mulch around my pool. I wouldn't ever use rubber mulch in an actual garden bed. Wood mulch biodegrades and enriches the soil over time. Rubber mulch just leeches chemicals into the ground and is messy. I hate it.

Is 14 bags of this really a cubic yard? I know the math says yes but it always seems to be less than a yard of bulk mulch

Cu yard is 27 ft3. (3^3). So there should be around 14 bags per yard, give or take.

That said, I encourage people to shop around, especially if you need a lot of this. This mulch is known for having quite varied quality standards. Since it's regional, you might have some people saying it's great while others are complaining about roots, rocks, pieces of pallets, plastic bags, mold, etc.

Check your local nurseries - the one I get my mulch from is about $29/yard for various colors - that's basically the same price here, and I know it's quality.

Do you just cover the old mulch or do you remove them as I have a lot of helicopter tree seed/leave(?? Forgot what it called)?
I have a lot of trees around the house, mulch get covered up free easily with those tree seeds/leaves and difficult to blow them up.
So i was wondering if I should replace with river rocks or something so I can use the leaf blower to blow away the those tree leaves. Any advice?

that would be 400+ bags. why would you rather have bags?
Can't speak for them, but in my case I don't buy quite as much bulk but if the quality and price are close enough I prefer the bags. The bulk delivery is dropped in one pile and I've got to transport it around the house. It's a hell of a lot easier to do in bags, not to mention I can store whatever I have extra for a later date (even a year or further in the future, if I seriously miscalculate). The pile has to be dealt with quickly otherwise it goes all over.

Menards just had a sale on pavers. I think the 1x1's were $0.99/each. I think everything stone related, including rock in bags, were on sale. (Actually on sale, not their mail in rebate "sale"). Of course YMMV on these type of products since they're usually on sale with the regional manufacturer that your local stores deal with. River rock has been on sale all the time, while a relative in Wyoming's store never puts it on sale.

This stuff is fine for small beds or topping off existing beds.
Starting off, this isn't where i'd spend the money. Local landscape places usually have a much better product and for a good price.

any comment on rubber mulch? I am new in gardening and I prefer to have rubber mulch although they are costly. Because it will last longer than regular mulch. Whats good and bad about rubber mulch for plant and garden bed?

I wish rubber mulch would go on sale. I'm tired of doing this every year lol.

On cape cod Massachusetts, we're now paying $45/yard! Getting 16 yards delivered today. Called all around and everyone is around the same price for dyed brown mulch. To make things worse, the local companies always deliver much less than ordered (you can quickly calculate using the height and diameter of a cone and plugging it into an online calculator). Finally broke down yesterday and ordered. Would love to cancel the order but our local Home Depot doesn't seem to have stocked up on the mulch this year 🙁
