Buy another 20 bags when the sale is active, and before you leave the store, just return using your old receipt.

You probably got a lot better deal, too. 30 yards of this stuff would be over $800.

I have rubber mulch around my pool. I wouldn't ever use rubber mulch in an actual garden bed. Wood mulch biodegrades and enriches the soil over time. Rubber mulch just leeches chemicals into the ground and is messy. I hate it.

27 cf in a yard. In bulk I pay $18 per yard of hardwood mulch hauling in the bed of my truck. Not a horrible deal if you only need a little and don't have a truck

Maybe you all can give me some advice. I have a small patch where I planted mondo grass - this is a very slow propagating grass, so it will probably be a few years before it completely fills in. In the meantime, weeds spring up continuously, so I'm weeding every few weeks. I can't win this fight with my current strategy.

Would wood mulch make sense here? Cover up the areas around the mondo grass, but leaving enough room around each planting to allow for propagation. I'll still have to weed within a few inches of each planting, but at least the majority of the area will be covered by mulch and not have weeds.

Seems rubber mulch isn't as good a choice for this application, as I'd need to cover less area with mulch each year as the mondo grass spreads. So if I went with rubber mulch, I'd have to pick up some of the rubber mulch each year.
Your plan of covering with wood mulch and leaving just enough room for the mondo grass to propagate is probably your best bet. Just have to top off the mulch every year since they do decompose and start to thin out.

Thank you! I've been waiting for this. Also, has anyone tried rubber mulch? It's more expensive but is supposed to last longer
I prefer rubber mulch, if you do it correctly. lots of layers of newspaper and weed tarp.

I've found that the rubber mulch keeps weeds at bay better. Feels better to walk on also - if you do walk on it.

However, they do wash away like regular mulch and just hurts to see it. At least rubber mulch will disintegrate and disappear. The rubber mulch that goes out sort of just looks messy.

Rubber mulch does not decompose and enrich the soil. No benefits of using it vs. hardwood mulch.

IT doesn't really last much longer but it looks nice, IMHO.
It also attracts bugs. Had it one summer and dug it all out the following year.

It's rubber, I'm sure it does last longer. But why you want rubber in your garden, I do not know.

It always last longer way longer than regular mulch. However, as you know its very priecy. My nxt step is to get rubber mulch for my flower beds.
