Buy another 20 bags when the sale is active, and before you leave the store, just return using your old receipt.

You probably got a lot better deal, too. 30 yards of this stuff would be over $800.

I have rubber mulch around my pool. I wouldn't ever use rubber mulch in an actual garden bed. Wood mulch biodegrades and enriches the soil over time. Rubber mulch just leeches chemicals into the ground and is messy. I hate it.

I would have to take four to drive trips to get as much mulch that I would need. Which would be about 70 bags give or take.
Rent a truck. Menards/ home depot do the first hour and half pretty cheap.

My local mulch vendors raise the price of mulch by 100% for no reason. Thanks in for 50 bags.

Made a large & deep raised bed. Looking for some filler underneath the soil, is this a safe cheap option?
Mulch is fine for filler, just not sure if your putting veggies in there? If so the dye used for the mulch color may be the only concern for me.

You know I didn't think about that. May be worth spending the extra $40-50 just to make one trip vs multiples, but being stubborn as I am I'd probably just make the trips just to save the extra money. Lol.

Mulch is wood, which is a food source for termites. If you put mulch too close to your home, it might attract them and then lead them to the more attractive wood in your home.

I paid $3.33 each the other day. Thanks!
Exactly, I got 35 bags the other day. Do they price match previous purchase?

Could combine this with Home Depot's 11% rebate match they do against Menards (if there is a Menards in close enough proximity). www.homedepotrebates11percent.com
Your mention of rebate made me think about Home Depot's 10% military/veteran discount—gotta get that setup before heading out.

Thanks for the post, OP!

Mulch is so finely shredded that termites are not attracted to it

that would be 400+ bags. why would you rather have bags?
I find bags easier to move around the yard and, if you get them delivered, they're stacked on a pallet until you're ready to use them. Bulk mulch sits in a huge pile that, unless you can cover it, will get blown around in the wind, wash away and get dirty with pollen.

Since 1 cubic yard = 27 cf, 30 yards would be 810 cf, and at $2/ 2 cf it's $810 total. Pretty good estimate, repped.

Some people use newspaper for that. Should be a lot cheaper than mulch.

Anyone know if Lowe's is doing a deal also. Home Depot is on the other side of town vs Lowe's being 2 minutes from house and I usually need to get 40 bags of mulch in multiple trips.

Which one is better? Home Depot Vigoro or Lowe's Scotts color Enhanced Mulch?

I realize one is 2-Cu ft Vs 1.5-Cu ft. I am asking more from color longevity perspective.

I love deals and saving where I can…. But I am happy to pay $1000 annually to have a company put down 10 yards of mulch. I would prefer to kick my feet up and watch.
You sure you belong here? If my math is right, 10 yards would be 135 bags or $270. So you are cool paying $730 in labor for a day of work? Now don't get me wrong, everything has a price but why even come in this thread to say that?
