Buy another 20 bags when the sale is active, and before you leave the store, just return using your old receipt.

You probably got a lot better deal, too. 30 yards of this stuff would be over $800.

I have rubber mulch around my pool. I wouldn't ever use rubber mulch in an actual garden bed. Wood mulch biodegrades and enriches the soil over time. Rubber mulch just leeches chemicals into the ground and is messy. I hate it.

Those wood chips from tree service are plentiful and okay for garden paths here. Some might say they attract bugs but while others insist on dark store bought bark. The back of the bags are clear so you can see what you are getting. I don't know what they weigh but mine were outside and wet so 30 is all I could fit and my little Toyota was feeling it. I always load on a good tarp and it helped drag out the last of the load. I stacked them upright for the trip and they handled better that way. I paid for 40 bags so had to go back for ten more. I suppose if I was devious I could get back again since she didn't sign off on my receipt. So good exercise moving half ton or more of bark around.

Why do they have a sale this late? Usually is like in April.
Have you seen their latest earnings report?

IT doesn't really last much longer but it looks nice, IMHO.
That is incorrect. My parents have had red rubber mulch for 15 years and it still hasn't broken down

Thank you! I've been waiting for this. Also, has anyone tried rubber mulch? It's more expensive but is supposed to last longer
I use black compost. Doesn't lose it's color and is better for the plants

I got a few bags of Vigoro brown mulch yesterday (NYC suburbs), and it's excellent. Pretty finely shredded, with some chips. I've gotten Vigoro and Scotts from the same Home Depot in years past. It's always been perfectly ok, and no real difference between the brands that I noticed, but this year's Vigoro really seems excellent (and probably better than years past).

I jumped on the Lowes $2/bag deal for their no-name mulch in April, and it is terrible. Very large pieces; some full on hunks of wood (5+ inches long). And after a day sitting out in the sun, the brown mulch is starting to look a little grey.

I've gotten the Lowes mulch at least once before, and it was better than this year. Guess it's hit or miss. Ultimately, I'm probably going to jump at whichever store does a $2/bag deal first. Would be nice if HD didn't wait so long though, as the Vigoro mulch is so much better (this year at least).

Think 70 bags would fit in a HD rental truck?

The Vigaro I got from HD yesterday and it smells badly of manure.

This or the Lowes version in black? Both available at my local stores. I plan to throw down some preen and then top off my existing black mulch. So 15-20 bags should do it.

Midsize SUV. Chat gpt says about 14 bags but I'm pretty sure I can stuff 17 or so if I utilize every nook and the front seat.
We just transported 20 bags in a Mazda CX-5 with rear seats bent flat. There was still space for one or two if we squeezed them in. It felt heavy though.

Thanks for that as my car size is very comparable so it gives me a good idea of what to expect.

Make sure you lay down a tarp before you load bags.

Any thoughts on the trimmers/blowers. Is there still no general thread on HD's Memorial Day sale?
probably look into Ryobi day deals that just started

I just looked at the Vigoro mulch in Hickory NC; mostly small pieces and mud, and very wet/heavy). So no thanks. Scotts looks to be much higher quality
