I don't know but ain't spending $1,600 on a video card.

edit: simply put, the demand is no longer therefore high end videocard no longer command higher markup prices like this.

Perhaps not for gaming, but demand is strong for AI and machine learning capable cards. Since AMD can't compete with Nvidia, there are not many options for retail consumers like myself who need that capability.

Get a 3090 or even a super old p40. You don't need a lot of compute for finetuning with LoRA or for inference, but you do need tons of memory for LLMs. https://lambdalabs.com/blog/nvidi...-benchmark . I can tolerate finetuning for 0.5-1d longer on a 3090 vs a 4090 considering I could snipe one for ~$600-700 on eBay vs a 4090 (no used cards yet) for $1600
