I was just answering the question. I'm guessing where you live this isn't a big issue. In the Pacific Northwest you need to be sure you're buying fully waterproof, not just water resistant.
Give me a break. Obviously this is fine for your standard day on the slopes, he isn't going scuba diving

Good catch! I was just looking at the bullet points, so I missed your second line. It very well may be! It is weird they don't use they're Omni-Tech branding. Columbia stands by their gear, so if it doesn't keep you dry, you have a good shot at a warranty claim. For warranty claims they give you a gift card for the full retail price of the item. I would screenshot the page and save it just in case.
Omni-Heat is their reflective lining. Different thing completely.

Moved from Seattle to Brooklyn, but I always buy with the PNW in mind. Like you, I want a very dry jacket. Unlikely at $40, but that's why we're here!

"Omni-Tech™ waterproof/breathable fully seam sealed"
I don't see that on this jacket so I would not trust it if you plan to get wet. For a day on the slopes, it might be okay.

"WARM & DRY
Waterproof-breathable tech, critically sealed seams, a thermal-reflective lining, and insulation keep you comfortable all day."
Bummer. Literally.

You are correct. If you read the thread it makes more sense.
