There are no Specialized bikes that are that cheap, but there are many good reasons to buy one from your local independent bike dealer such as getting help in choosing the right style of bike, fitting you to the right size, professionally assembly, ongoing maintenance and warranty support.

And nice butchering of my quote. In the future it'd be best if you were to quote accurately, especially if you are going to claim that I "literally" said something. No where in that thread did I say it was a great bike with great components. And the only things on that other bike that are Sora are Derailleurs and levers.

But what does any of that have to do with this Giordano, do you dispute what I've said about this bike or do you just want to keep digging up old disagreements?
You talked about the Rockhopper being a great deal at $580 plus tax but you don't want to talk about how Specialized downgraded from Shimano to Microshift and Tektro to Radius brakes. You like to talk about the components but I guess it doesn't make sense to mention the less than impressive Rockhopper specs (basic model). You want people to buy from their local Specialized store for them to help me upsell an overpriced bike ($580-1200 bike) and adjust my seat height. Nothing wrong with being a Specialized owner or fanboy but try to be unbias and consider value and bang for the buck. I watched YouTube reviews on that Specialized Rockhopper and I wasn't impressed as you were. I don't see bang for the buck value. I don't see the components matching with what Specialized is asking for.

"Please buy from or your local independent Specialized dealer.....".

It makes sense why you bash other way cheaper bikes in the other threads and talk about how great of a deal the specialized Rockhopper is at $580 plus tax and you want people to buy from local specialized stores. Don't forget that people pay through the nose though for those premium flagship brands. Purchase price matters.

There are two charts, neither matches and there are overlaps, which is why some of us have no idea what size to get.

The bottom says...

Small: 5-4 to 5-8
Medium: 5-3 to 5-8
Large: 5-10 to 6-4

The buying options say...

Small: 5-4 to 5-8
Medium: 5-7 to 5-11
Large: 5-10 to 6-4
Go with the buying options. You can order either small or medium as you are kind of in between. If you like big bikes, you can probably be happy with medium but I think small is better for a 5'7" rider.

I'm 5-11, SmartWeather is 5-7. Smilie

I might buy a medium. 12 bikes (Only like 4 function.) aren't enough. :/

there are a lot better post pandemic deals on FB marketplace on used bikes, much better quality.
Right. Let me go on Facebook and buy a $150 Walmart bike for $300.

Agh really on the edge here... Is this actually a good deal or is it more of a shot in the dark as to what to expect of this bike?

Yeh I've been looking for the best bike I can get for $200 for a casual rider and I saw this one a few days ago. I don't want it to be super heavy but also want reliable parts. All the Schwinn ones say the pedal threads strip and parts come off. Is this a reasonable bike with medium quality for an enjoyable ride on mostly road and very slight off road with the kids?

Fantastic deal so glad I didn't buy the Huffy or the Schwinn.. By the way is this the same bike being sold over at Amazon for $543 or maybe it has upgraded components, not sure, anyways I am 6'0" so I hope the large was the correct choice not experienced with these gravel hybrids.

At 5.7 can anyone advise whether to get a size Small or Medium?
I am 5'7 and purchase the medium and it fit perfectly, it is the right size.

Just noticed 2 things. 1 when changing my shipping address on paypal from NJ to IL sales tax is removed. 2. when checking out, Paypal says redirecting to Kent International. Is that the Kent that manufactures bikes??

Amateur here. Looking for a cheap bike for my wife for occasional rides for pleasure around suburbs. Reading the comments with all terminologies and details doesn't give any idea if its a good deal or not Smilie
So, is it a good deal and decent bike for the money?

This thread is enough of a dumpster fire that I can't blame you for being confused.

Realistically, if a hybrid bike suits your purpose and you don't currently own a bike, I think this will do fine. What many people don't understand is that $1000 bikes are a bad deal for someone who doesn't know that they'll use it a lot. For people "curious" about casual, infrequent cycling, I'd say it's a buy.

In for one. At this price it's almost a disposable bike for quick summer rides. Sure you can't compare to those costing thousands, but try to find a bike with this spec at $200 is not easy. I wouldn't hurt as much if it gets stolen outside local Starbucks.

I would also like to know. I don't want to buy a really expensive bike from a bike shop and worried about it being stolen. A long time ago I purchased a Schwinn bike from local bike shop. Great bike, used it only for riding around occasionally to store and with kids. Then it got stolen. Bike lock was cut and goodbye bike and $400.
