My Lectric XP has been a nightmare. Defective out of the box. Company 100% unwilling to help. I promise I am no Karen. I am like the nicest, easiest going person. I regret that purchase so much!
The people I drink with at the park have these and love them.
Good deal. I bought 2 of these over a year ago for 999 with the comfort package. The baskets are well built but the seat is not worth upgrade price. Much better off getting a seat of your choice from Amazon for $30.

Folding is clunky and heavy but it is nice when you want to take them to a certain location and toss in your suv trunk or hitch carrier. Folding hack is to stow them in the large Husky tote with wheels so they are easy to move and stash as needed. I'm 6'5 250lb and this has gone 29mph. The step thru model is better for taller people considering the pedals are lower.

This company sucks, would not replace/repair defective dangerous self accelerating bike. had to do credit card charge back. they gave me a rude call saying I'll lose warranty if I didn't cancel the charge back instead of resolving the defect. I won the charge back

I'm looking for an electric bike to ride around the neighborhood. I don't ride often so I'm thinking this will just collect dust. What's a recommended electric bike for casual riders?
Few things that I usually keep in mind when researching on ebikes:
1. Who is riding and what is it for - Are you riding alone and do you want to pedal or just throttle? What average distance do you think you're going to be traveling?
2. Space and weight - do you have a place to store a potentially big and heavy bike? Are you going to be lugging it in a car to take places?
3. Price - this determines how much $ I can stretch for things like power, hub vs mid drive motor, etc.

My honest recommendation is get a smaller, entry level ebike to get a good feel if it's for you. Lectric has the XP lite which I think is a great bike but you might find yourself wanting more power later on, but still a great bike to just ride solo and around the neighborhood.

There are also other tons of less marketed brands out there, offering potentially more power per buck. Just keep in mind that you may want to look for a shop that can honor a warranty if anything goes bad.

You can get cheap ebikes like the Jetson one that Costco sells for under $600. I personally just don't like the size and look lol. Those also usually have a 250-350 watt motor, which are on the lower, slower end of ebikes. If you want one that has more "speed" and oomph, look for one that offers around 750watt and upwards. Just be conscious of the rules of where you live.

Final note:
a.) You want more of an "exercise" type of ebike, get a mid drive motor (usually costs more).
b.) You don't like to pedal much, get a hub motor ebike.

Drinking at the park with random strangers sounds better than drinking alone! Good idea.

I have this and you really don't have to pedal at all. Unless you plan to do some major uphill mountain climbing action because these things can go up to ~25 mph on a level surface and I tore my shoulder labrum with just one accident on this thing so be careful. If you take little ones, I put on a full face helmet on them just to be safe.

Sorry to hear that. What went wrong?

I have a 1.0 and its been great so I have no idea about the customer service. Only thing I dislike is that the 1.0 versions are not at all rain or waterproof. They fixed that in all the newer ones.

I got the non-step thru model a couple years ago and love it. I picked it because I can fit it in my car instead of going through the hassle of attaching my bike carrier. This means it would get used a lot less out of lazyness. I just crossed 400 miles one it. I've upgraded the flywheel which you can find youtube vids about.

The only downside to one of these is size and weight; they're big. Otherwise, they're great for casual riding. Problem is that at $800, you could step down to something like the Costco Jetson but it is much smaller, much slower, much less rugged and you only save $200 or so. You can step up to something with a mid-drive motor but you will double or triple the cost.

If you don't have room or don't want to spend so much on something rarely used, escooters can be a lot of fun.

I have a Lectric XP 3.0, which is the newer model than this one, and I LOVE IT! It is one of the best purchases I have made in a while. I ride to the park almost every day with the dog in a pet carrier to take him for a walk. I highly recommend the Lectric brand...there have been some complaints about the brakes on the 3.0 and supposedly Lectric is offering to replace the factory brakes with Hydraulic ones for anyone who requests it! That is pretty good customer service! I have almost 200 miles on mine and while the brakes are kind of loud, they have never failed to stop me!

Great price! These are terrific bikes with superb customer service. We've had our two Lectric 1.0 Step Thru ebikes now for 3 years. I purchased them for $899 and getting them so reasonably priced (compared to Trek) purchased all kinds of tools and spare parts to get me through the pandemic parts shortage. But I have never had so much as a flat tire and not a single issue with any of them. Have purchased 5 more Lectric Lites for the kids and grandkids.
If you've never had a problem with either of them how do you know that they have great customer service?

All the negatives mentioned in this thread are for this tier of all ebikes. All service is trash (looking at you RAD) and there will be issues here and there, par for the course in this price range.

Overall Lectric is the better of the budget brands.

I have the 3.0 version of this bike. Mix feelings. It's bulky. I think the front of the bike is too long and sometimes I have a hard time balancing the bike in narrow spaces when I am carrying my kid. I can't recommend this bulky bike for city dwellers. Riding and turning in narrow city blocks are tough with this bike. But I am slowly getting used to it.
Also bear in mind that the battery is inside the bike frame. You can take it out but it takes some effort.

The brake on my 3.0 sucks. It takes like 3 seconds to come to a full stop and it makes loud noise when braking.

I don't recommend this bike for women especially in city environment. This bike requires some level of strength to operate safely especially during slow turns. The bike is 71 pounds for 3.0 version so during emergencies you need to be able to balance this heavy bike.

Is it a good bike for the price? Sure. Do I regret it? Nope. I am looking to buy another ebike for my wife. There's no way she can safely manage the Lectric 3.0 especially carrying a kid.

Agreed. Most e-bike if not all are too heavy. Especially for women and on top of that carrying a child along. That's why I got Phantom R1 e-scooter from Costco for $275 for my wife and attached two child seats, front and back. It's easy to navigate since it's an e-scooter, no pedaling required and it's very low to the ground.
My first e-bike was Buzz Centris and it's heavy and tall, I'm 5'7 and my feet just touch the ground at lowest seat post height. And that thing weight 67lbs.
