There is a self parking garage across the street. It twenty something per day. Cheaper if you pay for the week.

Agreed with you regarding spending time on the island. I've only been once, but we rented a car and loved having it to get around explore well beyond Waikiki. Very glad we spent a large portion of time on the other side of the island, too - Kailua is great and relaxing.
Agree also, been there 6x and the only time where I didn't have a car rental the whole time was during the pandemic where there was a car shortage. Stayed in Waikiki for 4 weeks wfh and had a car for a total of 14 days (mostly weekend days) and walked around waikiki and Ala Moana on the other days. Public transportation is very unpredictable and biking gets tiring after awhile since it's so hot there.

Have stayed here and while the rooms aren't large they're comfortable and the proximity for the price is wonderful. We parked around the block for free our entire stay as a previous poster recommended, can confirm it's possible and worth the short walk.
Most hotel rooms in the Waikiki area are small

Had the same feeling about O'ahu until spending time outside of Honolulu. Waikiki has to be my least favorite place on all of the islands as it is over-commercialized and often very crowded.

The reviews had mixed ratings. Dated, small, noisy room. I am not sure of this hotel is a good choice for a 7 days trip.

Can I apply a hyatt credit card, and upgrade the room if not satisfied?
From my experience a lot of the hotels I stayed at in the Waikiki area are dated except for the Ritz Carlton. My wife prefers the Hilton Waikiki Village because its a massive property with onsite grocery stores, restaurants, etc. There aren't new hotels being built in that area so the rooms will feel dated but it's part of the experience.

I'm headed to Kauai with my family in July, struggling to find a good place to stay for a family of five. Anyone have any recommendations? I was looking at princeville but their portal seems to be straight from the 1990s, impossible to get any real information on rooms.

I have the same question.
Many such websites don't actually guarantee your booking.

Just booked 7 nights and save $500 compared to hyatt.com. This is also cheaper than a government discount

I spent three weeks there about 7 years ago - we stayed in three different Vrbo rent by owner places and saved a bundle and had a blast - a week in each of the three corners of the island.

We were not directly on the beach.

Car required.

Expect to pay a fortune for prepared foods when you go out. Expect to pay $7/gallon milk on side of the road places. It's not cheap.
