I can only comment on my experience, but I bought the same deal through BuyDig a few weeks ago. Received A80CK model with the upgraded aluminum remote in new sealed bag. TV was in factory packaging with standard Styrofoam molds around perimeter and then factory box was shipped inside a cardboard shipping box with more form-molded bubble wraps at the edges. TV had all factory plastic sealing with the exception of one of the legs missing the seal. TV works flawlessly and I am thrilled with the picture. Can't figure out with this new model how to get the service menu to pop up the hours but I see no burn-in or other flaws. Prefer this over my LG C1 that I paid $1700 a year or so prior esp with the Google TV interface.

My 65" Sony Bravia began rebooting after 2 years. Then it died all together. The 47" Sony I had before that developed black lines after about 2 years.

Replaced the 65" with a Neo QLED Samsung. Not expecting much better honestly but the 5 year warranty from Costco gives me some peace of mind.

Can't use the A80K remote to access the service menu. You need to get a Sony remote with "display" and 1-9 on it. Amazon has a cheap 3rd party remote under $10

Bought the same Buydig deal and mine looked and was packaged exactly like yours. Very happy so far. I wanted to look into the hours on the panel at first but after a bit decided I didnt care that much lol.

The difference is that refurbs have actually been tested; open box has usually just been closed again and resold.

I will say from personal experience that i bought this exact TV from the same level of deal here on slickdeals from BuyDig a few weeks ago. It arrived damaged...plus it wouldn't even turn on. The whole thing seemed shady. I also ordered an A80K and got the A80CK costco item number...like it was a costco return that never got checked. I ended up getting fully refunded, and they didn't want it back, but now I have to figure out how to get rid of it. I tried swapping T-Con boards in it, but it still wont turn on.

OLED panels are rated for 100,000 hours....so I think they are good to go even if it has a few more hours than that

Wow...I wrote my reply without even reading this one. How crazy. very similar packaging...but mine was damaged.

I'm not scared of the screen dying, i'm afraid of burn-in which is still fairly common even in these newer panels

I would not doubt that, Sony was shady with their warranty with their fragile designed dual shock controllers that they would keep sending me refurbished units with bad analog stick with bubble wrap around it. Just terrible service.

Didn't they try sending someone? Sony, that is. I've had bad experiences with their support before but at least they were good about sending people to repair stuff.
Including the one guy who made the TV inoperable...

From my understanding, Sony doesn't refurb their TV's. These are all likely just customer returns. There's been too many horror stories on these refurbs for them to have actually been refurbished
